Default Problem with Brake Pad Install?

Hi guys,

I use pagid's yellow pads on front and I noticed that although I still have left a lot of pad material the pad sensor is almost touching the disc as you can see in the picture bellow. Is something wrong in the installation of the pad or the sensor?

Regards,
Ipe

I don't use the pad sensor, and never have. Are you sure that it will go off as soon as contact is made?

Nevermind.... My friend just advised me that this is not the sensor and this will never contact the rotor as the pads are used. No worries then...

Cheers,

if you are talking about the cylindrical thing in front of the pad, that piece is FIXED wont move. the pistons PUSHES your pad closer to the rotors as pad wears out. your installation looks correct.

Wait, these cars have brake pad sensors? And if so, don't they attach to the pad itself? I presume I could short the wires and never worry about it again, right?

^ yes, they have pad sensors.
most of us short it out and zip tie it out of way. save time changing pads, also, those little sensors aren't that cheap if you keep replacing them.

Don't feel bad. I once put a pair of pads on backwards. Luckily I noticed my error when putting the wheel on.

+1 on the zip tie out of the way. Lots of pads don't even have holes for the sensors anyway.

When you get a chance, you might want to clean out the holes in your rotors. Better heat dissipation, last longer
