Default Center Radiator Question - Do I have one?

Hello guys: I purchased a 2004 GT3 about a month ago. I am wondering if my car has a center radiator as it has a cover over the entire center vent. I went to the cars and coffee car show down in Irvine this morning and noticed another GT3 there that did not have a cover over its center radiator. Anyone ever seen a GT3 with a cover over the center vent or know anything about this?

Can you post pics? Sounds weird, as it should have the 3rd radiator. Could be a replacement bumper.

You should have a centre radiator (extra cooling). Either your car has had a new front end (and the wrong one) or it's a body kitted GT3 replica (not suggesting you wouldn't be able to spot that but it has happened to others...).
Did you buy the car from a dealer?
And what type of seats does it have?

PS - one other, more palatable possibility. Does your car have air con? I am not sure if you can get a/c delete as an option in the States, and I have never seen a GT3 with it, but I suppose there is a chance that losing the a/c condensers from the side pods could allow Porsche to put bigger coolant rads in there, negating the need for an additional centre one??

Here are some pictures of the front end. There is nothing that leads me to belive that it is a replica yet. It has a GT3 vin, seats, engine, trans, wheels, PCCB's, etc. I hope that it isn't.

Vader,

Did you buy the black GT3 at Pacific Porsche? I believe that it used to be owned by this member: https://rennlist.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5672682 It looks like that car had the wrong replacement bumper installed at some point, it probably has the optional GT3/Cup Aerokit II bumper for a standard Carrera.

Yes. I did purchase the car from Pacific Porsche. I wonder if the entire bumper is different or if it's just the air foils behind it. How can I get in contact with the previous owner?

if that's a real GT3, then you need to fix bumper right away, you wont get enough cooling.

But the rad must be missing too - surely? Would someone not realise their mistake if the blanking plate sat right over a rad? Maybe not - worth a look.
And you don't have a replica!

I don't think that the radiator is missing. That plastic plate gets very warm to the touch after driving. I am usually a very detailed person when it comes to these things. For some reason, I didn't think to look at the center radiator when I purchased the car.

Vader,

I would send Ben FR a private message or e-mail from this site. Regardless, I'd get it back to Pacific and have them correct it.

The front bumper cover is fine, it's the correct GT3 bumper cover that we all have on our cars, it's the part behind the bumper cover that's incorrect.

It appears that your car has had some front end damage and someone installed the wrong Air Inlet/Front Bumper Grill on your GT3. The one on your car is part # "996-505-561-01-01C which is for a 996, 2002-2004 Carrera 2/4 with manual transmission.

The part you need is for the GT3, part # 996-505-561-02-01C which is also installed on the 996 Carrera 2/4 1999-2005 tiptronic transmission cars.

I'm sure you will find your centre rad safety installed and totally useless behind the incorrect Bumper grill. The new part is listed for $182.00 on Pelican Parts

Good luck with this.
