It's hard to tell if the paint guy sucked and didn't get any paint on the threads or if the nut really backed off. ...or if the paint is old and only applied to a previous setup....
Wanna do more wrenching or do you want to think it's the pads?

Not sure if the dealer did the blue paint or not. The suspension was installed a few months ago prior to delivery at the dealership where I bought the car.

its the pads if I wasn’t 13.000 klm away I would come there with a front set lift her up change front pads drive put back pads.
Come on.
On the other hand I am afraid that even if you pin point the pads then will have another 7 pages of why it happened this time and not before with other pads that luck the shims.
Clunk disease god help us all.

What's a measly 13K klicks to help another member out?
I'm pretty sure it's the pads but I have not ever heard this in all my years of driving these cars. That is very frustrating. I am going to install the track pads this weekend so we'll see if that changes anything. If the sound remains then it might be something else, no?

Try pushing down on the LF fender repeatedly while watching the center nut. If it's loose you should be able to see the washer seperate from the nut. You might even hear it....

Dell, still chasing that clunk.... If you are getting the same clunk I had (when bought car) it would only happen when loading the driver side strut & turning... With braking force it would not "Clunk"... The tops of you x74 strut looks normal.

I am pretty sure I have pad knock (separate thread). The feeling is that it is immediately connected to pressing or releasing the brake pedal (even so lightly) and not connected to any deceleration force (which would bring in chassie components to the equation).
But maybe there is another type of pad-knock which occurs in harder braking which then would be harder to diagnose.

Or it could be that jack you forgot to take out of the trunk! Did that at MMC 2 months ago..
kept hearing a thud when I would turn the car into the apex... When I finished... looking in the trunk & found my jack....
