Default March 2012 VIR with Zone2 picture and video thread

Post up your pics and videos from the event here.

Here are 2 videos. More to come later. The first is a video running with Matt in his 991S to illustrate just how fast that car really is for all the naysayers. The second video is of the bonehead that just almost got kicked out of the event for aggressive driving. He was determined to win the DE.

Just a couple laps to show the near identical performance of the new 991S to the 997.1GT3
Both cars are stock running on street tires.
Track session was the first of the morning with cool temps and a drying track from the rain.

This guy got black flagged several times for aggressive driving and passing without a point. So many complaints that the Zone 2 reps had to have a "conversation" with him if he was to continue for the rest of the weekend.

This is the camera pointing out the back of my car showing how aggressive he was from T5 through T5a and T6. I was going to give him the point while in "snake" so he could continue through on exit to the bridge straight but he didn't even give me a chance when he nearly rear ended me entering T5a as I had to lift to enter snake (I'm in a stock GT3 with street tires and he in a full race prep Cayman S with a 3.8 motor transplant). He decided he could just swerve back and forth to show how fast he was

Needless to say he finished up this stellar courtesy passing without a point on the left. He wins the bonehead of the weekend award.

Here is a great multi shot sequence the track photog caught. I was determined to grab another 50ft of deeper braking and I ran out of track. I tried to trail down into Roller Coaster with a bit more speed than usual and just about snap oversteered to the right into the tire barrier. Saved it

In car video of the save. I'll let Scott post of the chase video when he gets it completed.

Gotta setup in car video. Would of had a great shot of KJNBLDC exiting 9 over the rise with the right front in the air, hauling a$$! As well as some of my own boneheaded WTF moments.

Lack of body roll in the 991 is amazing.

John you nailed it. The body was practically non existent in the 991. I was dumfounded as I was rolling side to side in the esses and Matt was moving right along like it was a cup car!

Nice to see you again

Here's a pic of my boys and their podium ceremony. My oldest (4) was very excited to be first. My youngest (2) has the typical 2nd place podium finisher look

Charity laps with my 4 year. Going through NASCAR (T3) with Tim on my butt looking for a point-by

Great pic at the top of the esses

Good shot to show how softly sprung the car is:

Driving in the Sunday morning fog with Scott. It was cool to see all the cars running in fog with headlights:

Scott lurking and ready to pounce!

My 4 year old "cruising" with Randy's (RJFabCab) daughter:

There's something about those photo's at the top of the Esses that bothers me - that damn "VOLKSWAGEN" sign on the bridge hovering over the Porsches!

I have hours of video to go through but I will post up a clip later. I'd rather play with track videos, but I have to head back up to campus

Matt, here is your video clip you asked me to post:

Impressive videos! Nicely done. I noticed that in the straight portion after the curve with the big oak tree you maxed out about 147. It seemed as if the 991 was pulling away. Did the 991 hit 150 or more on that straightaway? Were you just trying to follow or was the 991 actually pulling away?
Also, what kind of options did the 991 have?

Funny you mentioned the Cayman. He was fast (I thought he must have a turbo or something LOL) but I ate him up all weekend and he was terrible about points etc....

I had some good video from Friday and Sat but my card ran out and I deleted the info so I could record Sundays session but I think I probably had my best lap during that session so was glad I got it on record. 1st lap is a solid 4.

I was hitting 150-155 based on exit speed of oak tree.. ( meaning if I got it right)
