Pros and Cons of clear bra
#16
Sounds like a joke asking/questioning about the clear bra. I actually started looking into this thing back in late 90's/early 2000 when no one had even heard about it in US.
So, after searching for long time, I finally found out about a European company called "Armorfend" in UK and got a lead on their sister shop in CT.
I had a local window tint guy install the film for me and when I picked up the car (1994 Supra TT) , I noticed a hair underneath the top middle of the front bumper.
The guy however refused to acknowledge the hair was there at the time of install and will not do it even I had provided the film.
I had paid almost $600 for the bumper/hood and another $250 for the install and just couldn't afford to do it again
Anyway, I now have XPEL Ultimate film (Self healing) on the front of my 997 TT (Complete bumper/full hood/full fenders/rock guards and the quarter panels).
Regardless of how good the re-spray is it can never be as good as a factory paint and is almost impossible to match the rest of the car.

I was thinking of doing that myself, although the bumper paint has already been fairly well sandblasted. Could you share the name of the shop? I'd like to give them a call.

Unique Car Care in Boston.
My rocker panels get sand blasted from sticky tires. I used Dr Colorchip myself before I had the clear bra installed. Very cool. Not bad for an amateur.
Now, I have a guy that comes to the house. I had him cover the rocker panels, the wheel wells, the door edges, the mirrors, the headlights, the rear bumper and both fore and aft of the rear wheels.
On the track, I feel like I am driving around covered in bubble wrap. I leave the painter's tape at home.

Re: "Those black vinyl clip-on bras should stay on ebay, where they belong."
Yeah, I tend to agree.
I guess I will just budget for a respray if needed. The current finish looks pristine, considering the car is 10 years old. But, I still figure it's only a matter of time before it eventually gets nailed by a rock or other road debris.

I did my car last weekend, I used XPEL. when I removed the old bra the paint underneath was new. I touched up the unprotected area in the hood and used a big sheet to cover all of it. the bra made the hood look even better. I redid the bumper with a pre cut kit and used the sheet to cover 2/3 of the fenders. Here's pictures from the install:
