Made the Switch to Hoosiers

I have been stuck at 1:01 flat for the last 3 years. I am sure my driving has improved, but my risk taking has decreased. During some of the 1:01s I have a theoretical best Lap of around 60.5 seconds.

452GT3...Thanks!
I went to Lime Rock last Spring. Nice little track, although a haul from Ann Arbor. It was on the cool side, but not cold. I was on new Nittos, and was at 1:00. Hoosiers will make a difference.

Wow. Lots of posts about running Hoosiers hotter than I have been. I start cold at 24 and go hot to 34-35. The note from Hoosier direct was surprising. I'll do more research and testing.

At Sebring best pressures for Hoosiers are low 30s hot. I think on bumpier tracks Hoosiers do much better with lower pressures like at Sebring. I've tried Hoosiers at mid to high 30's. Terrible.
No failures yet.

Not one mention of setting tire pressures with a tire pyrometer.......
This is the way you should always set tire pressures. No matter make of car, track , tire etc.!!!

Yep. My pressures very close across.
Springs and susp set soft for Sebring home track.
Perhaps is why I've never been able to equal laps on kuhmos as I was told they have a softer sidewall than Hoosiers.

I'm consistently faster on kuhmos than Hoosiers and they last longer. I could get them to the cords- gets greasier but still manageable. On Hoosiers they are already sliding after 14 hc's. Got 38hcs out of kuhmos with rotating tires twice and flip tires once til they corded at 40 hc's. Hoosier is a funny tire- one session can be flying with tons of grip next session it's sliding like after one layer of awesome grip rubs off next layer feels like mpsc grip. Weird. Mike

Hoosiers -Update at Lime Rock Park
Well, I would say the tires inspire confidence, but...... The temp was around 50 or less degrees with a lot of wind. I started them at 26f and 27r Cold.
At the end of the session (16 mins) the pressures were all over the place. The front left was around 35 and rear left was around 40. Right Fr 32 and Rear 35. So, after the first session the pressures did not come close to what I was aiming for. Of course, LRP is mostly right turns so having the left side more is normal. For 2nd session, I made a few adjustments and was able to get to left fr 35 and left rear 37 and right was lower. Third session was only 4 laps. Needless to say I did not get much data through the day.
During the 1st session the uphill did not feel too good with a lot of weight transfer and yaw. I was wondering if the tires are showing weaknesses in the suspension. I do have a good amount of camber, stiffer springs, motor mounts, etc. I did feel a little better in the 2nd session.
Since I never got up to speed my times were slow and can't get anything from the data. Part of an issue with a DE where I am instructing is the student gets the priority. Oh well..
The good news is I will be a Watkins Glen with TrackMasters this Friday-Sunday and Friday is open track with no students So, I will have a lot of time to make adjustments and look a data. I can clearly see I have a long way until I get to the tire potential.
