Default 996gt2 with straight pipes

Hey all,

I got a set of FVD straight pipes for the 996tt/gt2 from a member on here. I was more curious than anything, and in no way want this to be a permanent solution to the lack luster noise given off by the oem can. I'm thinking BBi, USP, or a custom catless resonated xpipe for a long term solution.

For now, though, I have a verrry loud car. Cold starts are unbearably loud, and the time it takes for the car to idle at normal rpm can't come soon enough. I wish there was a neighborhood facebook group so I could issue an apology to them all lol. Drone between 2-3k is awful.

Having said that, the whistle and flat six tt noise is still intoxicating. It's a touch unrefined, but it doesn't sound like anything ordinary. I brought it into center city philly over the weekend on a date and people's reactions were hilarious. "wtf is that!?" one of the comments I managed catch. High revs is absolutely glorious...and I'm sure that all goes without saying.

Bear with me while I find the time and a buddy to get me a decent exterior pass video. Here's what I have for now...I'll shoot for this coming weekend for some more goodness in a non residential area before I swap back for OEM.

I had no idea the OEM sport tips were made by Eisenmann

Bonus:

This past weekend I paid a visit to pocono raceway to watch a buddy test and tune his 240 for formula drift..at the same time another buddy running his RS5 in the ferrari concourse event. I invited myself into the paddock and found another 996gt2! It was a pleasure chatting it up with the owner, and glad to see his car gets driven as it was meant to be.

Nice car!

I installed fabspeed high flow sport cat and x-pipe (muffler delete) on my GT3. I agree with you, the system needs a small muffler.
Mine too is very loud and I have a drone between 3-5k.
Thinking of adding a small Burns muffler to quell the noice some.

Sounds so sick!! I saw the Lehigh Valley tunnel.. Great place with no traffic. If you are ever in the area, stop by Fabspeed anytime and check out the facility! I would love to see a black GT2

nice, finally got some sound exhaust noise.

re: drone - there is a way to rid of the drone by using the exhaust wavelengths to cancel each other out, in other words to cancel out the pipe resonant frequencies. you can do this with a side branch resonator but it will require some calculations to determine the length of the side branch.

He he he. Sounds awesome. I had straight pipes on my GT3 for a few weeks. It was lots of fun, but my wife refused to ride with me. Something about middle aged punk.... I'm not sure what she was talking about.
