Love my 19's. Found little or no significant difference.

I have had 19's on all my 996's. I guess if they are harsh I have gotten use to them. Have SSR GT3's on the 4S and Techart Formulas on the Turbo

Love my 19" 997TT Wheel Set. No difference in ride for me.

going from 18" wheels to 19" wheels, does one have to have another alignment done?

Default 19" wheels

My local tire guy advised me that running 19" wheels may mess up the AWD - any input on that ?

Any size tires, if they are not closely matched, can mess with the AWD. The key is not whether they are 18 or 19's, but if the rolling diameters are within 2% (Porsche spec.) I have NO problem with mine for years.

19's for show and 18's for go.

I'm in the camp that feels 18's look too small for the 996.

Should have added to my 2 photos - red wheels are 19", silver are OE 18".

When I bought this girl 3 years ago, she came with the 19" Victor Equipment Kronen rims shown in the picture, plus the original set of Porsche rims from the PO.
Bought it with 26000 km's, has just over 40000 km's now and no issues with the AWD system.
Firm ride, but kinda like that raw feel, considering she's an X50 and IMHO, the rims look great on the car!

Depends on where you live, 19s on a 997 work well because the tire is taller, 19s on a 996 need a lower profile tire. This low profile will definitely cause problems in areas with slightly bad roads and road construction. If you live in areas that don’t receive harsh freezes you may be good, but if you do make sure your wheel repair shop is close by.

Had some 19s on for a month or two and they ride fine with adjustable suspension, but I prefer 18s

I went with 18's running 35 aspect tires. Made a world of difference on ride quality.
