for whatever reason, i misunderstood your question upthread.

there is (a) no way he misinterpreted my "thumbs up" to him as anything other than "hey, great car".

(b) i wouldn't ever signal to someone to street race. as i said in my post, we traveled a few miles down the road and once stopped, i merely glanced over to "thumbs up". my embarrassment at being so obviously ignored cause me reflexively to tell him to go f himself in as few fingers as i knew how.

to be clear as to the genesis of this non event.

the guy had stopped at a stop sign on mulholland. a well known road/highway with sweepers and turns that runs from hollywood to the pacific ocean, well over 40 miles.

as we stopped, when he was turning right toward malibou lake and i was turning left in an entirely different direction, this was the only time that both cars were side by side.

there was no "confusion or misinterpretation". i.e. him thinking i was "gtg" anywhere? or for that matter, my realizing my compliment was snubbed. that was crystal clear. i hope i've cleared that up lol.
