Default Live rear parcel help needed

I cannot get the rear carpeted parcel shelf to budge. Do I need to remove the C pillar covers?

i can't lift it from the center. Does the ECU tray need to come out? Doesn't seem to interfere.

heres where I'm stuck

Got it. How does that relay attach to the rear wiper assembly?

Added a layer of sound deadening to the sheet metal back there. The horizontal panel is a giant "drum"- I was shocked.

PAULUMN,

What are the results of adding the Dynamat material and was it worth the effort?

I have a rather loud Europipe 76mm non-resonated exhaust, so the drone between 2-3k rpm was annoying, especially with the windows up. I used Noico sound deadening material, as well as some Noico foam.

The rear parcel shelf sheet metal is such a "drum"- that I ended up using a few layers of the deadening material- the good thing is you can thump the "drum" between layers to see how much the resonance changes.

I finished up the project today and buttoned everything back up. With windows down the drone is all but gone. I can actually hear the exhaust better, coming from outside the car. With the windows up, the drone is better- but still a bit there.

As a disclaimer, I actually think the stock exhaust droned quite a bit (and this is a K16 car)- so I may be on the sensitive end of the drone spectrum. Having said that, I really think this non-reinforced parcel sheet metal is sort of a design flaw- I've never seen anything like it- thump any panel on any car, even a panel van- and I don't think you'd get near the boom we have.

Hope that helps.

Thanks go getting back to me. I have an X50 with a Europipe exhaust. While I don't think it's over the top loud or has an annoying drone, this seems like a great idea to quiet the interior down some.
If you have a picture with the sound deadening material installed, please post.

No pics mid install, but I do have some video of me "thumping" the panel before, during, and after the installation- feel free to PM me your cell and I can text (or Whatsapp if you don't have an iPhone) the vids to you. I'll also note you need to be careful how much volume of material you add- since the parcel is already thick foam, it's easy to add to much and then you won't be able to reinstall that rear panel that hides the wiper motor.
