Default Clutch recipe with part numbers - did i get it right?

So it appears that my release \ throw-out bearing or pressure plate has partially failed.( need to get the endo scope deeper in there to confirm) The trans is at least going to have to come out so while it is out plan on upgrading the stock clutch that has approx 40k mi. (I wouldn't be replacing due to mileage but since the trans is coming out I thought upgrading made sense) I was looking to minimize cost while still getting high quality parts by piecing a kit together myself. (been out of work for 3 months) Most parts are pretty easy to get except the "764" ( 883082 999764) pressure plate. Anyone who has pieced a kit together do these part numbers look like a kit that will work with turbo with a DMF.

i have no familiarity with part numbers but when i replaced mine it was all oem sachs and the only "upgrade" i did was the gt2 unsprung disc on your list.

i don't recall getting any of those other bits ( guide tube? etc ) and iirc i re-used the hardware. it's been awhile but that's my recollection. i also had plenty of mass to the dmfw so i did not replace it then ( but later did after needing trans work ). all new bolts never hurt either and is i'm sure advisable.

i think parts came to a grand all in. so your list even years later looks priced well.

i would add a RMS for 40 busks since you're "in there" and who know how old it is. gl with the job. empathy also on the "100 days" of no work

i call BS on this whole thing ( sorry hadda say it )

Also replace the little plastic pieces on the fork, the needle bearing things rms might replace the fork and shaft as well. Make sure to get genuine porsche parts for these replacements, theyre only a couple bucks more than oem and all of the screws and bolts. All of them, dont re use any of them.

Dont cheap out on the pp bolts and fw bolts either, theyre 40 bucks or so for 9.

Im a cheap ****er but theres certain things i wont cheap out on, clutch being a bitch to so on your back is one of them.

If you are staying with the dual mass clutch. I would get the 764 pp and 098 hd disc from race-clutch. Sachs says that combo is good for 860nm +/_

Probably going to get the clutch combo you mention directly from Sachs. Race-clutch ( ccc Motorsports) does not have the best reviews on Google. He did respond quickly via email but if the transaction doesn't go smoothly it would be hard to rectify buying from a shop in Germany. When I get all the parts ordered I'll update the list and post it for anyone searching in the future.

Then if you are buying all the pieces ala cart. Fvd has some 764 pressure plates discounted / clearance priced by 50% . They are listed as their 890nm pp. Unfortunately their disc prices and complete kits seem expensive. I have been looking at all the same stuff in anticipation of a clutch this winter. I just turned 50,000 mi on the original in my 2003tt.

So it was my release bearing that came apart. Have appointment 7/7 to get the work done at a local shop. Here is the final part number list I came up with from research and some tips from members:

Don't mess with the RMS if there is no evidence of a leak...

Is there a reason for this? Youre already there, why not?

OK so I finally got all the parts and a time slot at the shop to get them swapped out. This is the final list I purchased:

***THIS IS THE FINAL LIST OF ALL THE PARTS***

The clutch and pressure plate came from Sachs in Germany in 2 days. Their website was a bit clunky and I had to actually call and talk to a fellow over there but we got it straightened out. Shipping and import fees were right at $100.

were you unable to source those parts in the US? just wondering as i wouldn't pay import or shipping for sachs parts and that list would qualify for free shipping on *most" of the usual parts sites here.

enjoy that new clutch. should be good for 100k miles unless you launch lol

To be honest it was the cheapest I could find them.

Well I picked the car up yesterday and put 35 miles on it to check it out prior to bringing it home for an additional inspection and oil change. I wish I would have had access to a lift and a trans jack because that labor bill hurt the wallet.

At least I love the results so far. The shifting seems so smooth now. I think for the last half year my old clutch must have been barely disengaging because shifting effort was very high. The shifts are so effortless and positive now. I did window weld the trans mount while the car was down so not sure how much that contributes. The clutch actuation and effort I would say are no different than the factory clutch. The friction point is a little higher in the pedal travel but not abnormal I just need to get used to the new normal. Going to put 500 mi or so of in town driving over a number of trips to get it broke in before giving it full power.
