I know it’s not a Mercedes forum, but had to show off my other love...

Thank you - I was not a fan of the R - the rear windows and body work struck me as a little weird. If I am not mistaken, it is also bigger...? I am not even sure if they still produce that one anymore.

She has been loyal, though, so she's remained in my fleet while a few others have come and gone.

You are correct, they don’t produce them any more and when time comes, I’ll be looking at the 2010 models. Can’t beat the price, comfort and definitely space. Reliability is a bit iffy and even though it hasn’t been awarded the most reliable car ever, nowadays it’s not very hard working on these, parts are readily available and pretty much any Indy shop is capable of maintaining it on a decent budget.

I’ve had a bunch of Benz’s and liked them all. A 1967 250SL, 300E, 400E, several 500S’s, a1997 CL500 which was a great car, a couple of M’s for my wife an the present DD. To be honest though, Benz really lost its way after about 1998 when economics and accountants got in the way of engineers.

Those Merc engines were great. The plastic bits on the cars though, not so much. Thanks for sharing. I lusted after those SLs back in the day and finally took a 996 for me stop looking at them.
