Default Is Nitto NT-01 still the preferred track tire?

I'm looking into getting into doing more track time and autocross. I plan to run my fancy 19's on the street and put a set of 345 and 315 Nittos on my twist wheels. Is this still the best deal in track tires? Also what brake fluid should I run? I do have the 350mm Sebro rotors so that should help.

If you're not AWD, use the 245/305 NT01. The 305/35/18 is far superior to the short 315/30/18. The 275/335 NT01 combo is best but requires specialized fitment and 10/13 wheels. Endless RF-650 is the go to fluid.

NT01s are still the best.

Do the 245/315. Just be sure you have enough wheel liner clearance in the back of the inner rear.

Oh I meant 245 front in my original post. Typo. I'm going to order the 245/315 combo.

NT01's are great, I just got a set this past Friday. I wouldn't use them for auto-x tho, you won't be able to get them hot enough, quickly enough for them to be any stickier than a good auto-x street tire like the RT660's etc.

Just picked up a set in 235 and 315 and haven’t spent much time on them but do feel good, size wise the rears seem slightly smaller in diameter and in tread width and the fronts seem slightly larger in comparison to my previous set of Michelin’s

Would it be workable if I got some Falken rt615k? I realize they would lose grip after a few laps but I'm just a noob anyways. I could use them for both autoX and track then.

Falken rt615k would be a great tire for a novice. Probably better for autocross than the Nittos due to the difficultly of getting the Nittos up to proper temps in short amount of time. The Falken rt615k will do just fine a track.

I run Falken rt615k+ on my car right now. I used them last year for auto-x and track, they're fine. Don't let them go over 34psi hot. At this point I'd get the RT660's though, they're a much better tire...

If you want to learn, I suggest going with a normal tire, and not too much grip so you can learn where the car wants to slide. Sticky tires are for advanced level driving. If you want to spend money to help get half cage and harnesses to hold you still in your seat, or get coaching. Good luck and have fun. What track are you near?

I'll look at the RT660. I plan to run at Oregon Raceway Park and Utah Motorsports Campus I think they call it.

Two seasons now on RT615k+ Falken tires and for testing Ive been doing its a great tire. Yes, 34 psi max and they heat up quickly so keep an eye out. Sunday track day high is 95 and I'll be pushing these around keeping an eye bleeding down all day.

Next set will be the 660s
