Default What car insurance company do you use?

Hi, I’m the proud new owner of a 13k mile 996TT. I will only drive the car around 1,000 miles per year. We use State Farm for our daily drivers. I contacted Grundy and Haggerty. Grundy only allows use of the car for shows and parades. Haggerty is more lenient with how the car can be used. State Farm has antique insurance for 20 year old and older cars. My car qualifies yet they have driving restrictions similar to Grundy.

I will use the car to make an occasional run to the store, drive one of my kids around, get ice cream, etc. Not just driving to shows.

Curious who you all use to insure your 996TT. I like the idea of agreed upon value with Haggerty and Grundy. Cost for Haggerty is around $1,100 per year versus less than $600 per year via State Farm and their traditional insurance as I have on my daily drivers.

Car is stored around 5-6 month per year as I live in Chicago, so the insurance rate goes down with State Farm as I just carry storage insurance those months as the car resides on my lift in my garage.

I use Allstate, regular insurance. Coverage is ACV (actual cash value) which is fine considering the market. I also don't think too negative (or try not to).

Also premiums will vary wildly based on location, age, history, etc. Not a basis for research.

That's not right, I have Grundy, stated value and 2,500 mile annual limit. Insured for pleasure use. $630 per year, plus in my case I get the broker commission back. They write it with Philadelphia Insurance. I would re-check.

I have Grundy horror stories from close friends and will never use them again, American Collectors Named Value has been amazing, GEICO is surprisingly good on payouts as well. Do some research

We just have regular AllState insurance on our 996's.we had American Modern Collector car insurance on our 964 Turbo and it seemed really good, we paid about $2k/year for $200k agreed coverage, 2k miles/year. It was much less restrictive than a lot of the other collector insurance companies but still required that the car always had to be stored in a locked garage overnight so road trips we not going to happen.

People are missing that in today's market, ACV may be more than or at least equal to a stated value.

Thanks for quick replies. I called American Collector. Super nice lady and took less than two mins. Cost is $1,213 for the year. I have no tickets, moving violations, accidents, etc. I'm 50 year old....so not young. Rates may be high since I live in such an urban area.

I'll continue doing more research.

I insure through Cincinnati with agreed value coverage with no mileage limit. I think I pay around $450 a year for the 996.

$296 through Auto Owners, with $65K stated value. Probably should take that up to $75K in this market. I have 4 other cars on the policy as well.
It's a white Turbo S.

All of my cars and umbrella policy is through State Farm. They gave me a surprisingly great rate on my TT, $373 for 6 months (or $746 p/year), for a 250/500 policy. I can only drive 2k miles p/year, however they have never checked in the 3 years I have had the policy.

You guys have it good; State run insurance in BC, with no claims and an excellent driving record, I am still in it for $1800/year.

In Alberta, the 991 with full replacement, unlimited miles, is $1400.

Doesn't mean a thing. These guy are also quoting limited use, garage only policies. Regular insurance here (which I keep on all cars) is still around $2k for me in NY.
