996tt or 992 C2?
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and a fruitful Black Friday. Time for a pointless waste of time of a thread now.
The PCA winter raffle is going to award a 992C2, and based on past prizes I reckon the build that will be awarded should be worth maybe $125k or so, and it got me wondering: For that dollar value, would you prefer to have a brand new 992 C2 (PDK only), or a peachy creampuff 5k mile almost-new 996 Turbo S? Assuming you didn't have your current 996tt obviously.
I drove a 992 C2S a couple of years ago and liked it a lot, but I have to say, if I won the PCA raffle, I could see myself trading it for a top condition 996tt of equal market value.

I'd take the 992. Hybrid turbos, fueling, IC, and a tune, and I'd daily the crap out of that 700whp sleeper. An ultra low mileage 996TT is a collectors car that I would be afraid to drive.

I'd take the money and buy a driver 996tt and a 991. Ultra low mileage 996tt would be useless to me, money is better off elsewhere if it's just going to be an investment I can't enjoy.

This is dumb, no one would ever cross shop these two cars.

That’s his gorgeous ‘05 S coupe (one of like 184 in existence) in seal over natural tan on the right, and my ratted out red one on the left (with my old wheels) at an autocross a few years ago. He’s the skinny one standing closer to my car for some reason.

I'm a sucker for low mileage cars. The immaculate paint, the pristine interior without a wrinkle or a scuff, the smell...
I would have no qualms driving a low mile creampuff with abandon, I'd cherish the feeling of being in a 17 year old car that's still exactly how it rolled off the line at Zuffenhausen.

The 996TT will go up in value whether you drive it or not. Unless you’re talking about putting on significant miles. So why not drive it and enjoy the heck out of it? If it goes up a little less, so be it, the price of not driving it would be more costly to me. I bought mine 3 years ago with 11k miles and it now has 19k miles. I know I could sell it today for more than I paid for it. Would it be worth even more if I kept it at 11k miles? I don’t care.
