Porsche Classic Radio

PCCM+ installed. Integration is great. Only gaps are that the clicking of the turn signals are loud through the mic on the other end of the phone during phone use, the clocks don't match (they drift) between the PCCM and the dash, and well that's about it. Brings the car forward a ton. Wish the Apple car play was wireless. Overall, it just looks/feels factory and makes using your phone with the car completely normal, which is great.

The sound of the PCCM plus is great. There are software bugs that haven’t been addressed by Porsche like the random resetting of the trip odometer. No software updates so far.

I have a 2003 with BOSE with a CDR23. It's pretty much "plug & play" if you have an 2003 or newer with BOSE. The Bose system runs on M.O.S.T and fiber optic. From my research, pre-2003 cars are a bit more involved as far as installing the PCCM+.
I purchased the the PCCM+ from Suncoast Porsche parts online. I called them and talked to the parts guy about ordering the parts shown below so that I did not have to modify the existing parts in the car. So they packaged it and created a temporary kit with necessary extra parts sor me to order easily on line.
Also, I found the proper home for the GPS antenna that comes with the PCCM+. Most online videos and instructions place it behind the head unit inside of the instrument panel. The GPS antenna is magnetic and there is a metal plate under the cover at the base of the windshield on the instrument panel where the antenna should go.
Also the microphone has a proper home to the left of the instrument binnacle, but that is a bit more labor to remove the instrument binnacle but it should work so everything will look like it came from the factory.
All done...looking great. (if I do say so myself :-) )

Yeah my car is a 2001 and the dealer had to call another dealer in the middle of the install. It was their first install and something was confusing, took them forever and then they called and the other dealer hooked them up with whatever info they needed in five mins. Don't know what it was, just know it tripped up factory techs on a 2001 trying to do it for the first time.

Cons EXPENSIVE, You can upgrade to a Kenwood with amp and speakers for about the same or less! old hardware needs updating, no way to add backup cameras front camera or dash came integration. No wireless carplay ( I don't care for this since I always plug my phone in the car to keep it charged. AND I use WAZE) IF you want to upgrade speakers also you have to get 2ohm ones. hard to find and rare. The unit is not motorized so you cant adjust the angle of the screen for better viewing like most Kenwood Pioneer and Alpine units

Some more Pros for PCCM+:
I occasionally listen to the radio in the car. I can't focus on spirited driving with radio on lol.
I decided on PCCM+ because the integration looked easier to do as a diy, blends well with the interior styling and affords the car to jump into the 21st century with CarPlay having big screen for Navi.
I know I paid a premium over many aftermarket systems, but I am ok with that and had fun with the install, and like sharing tid bits with the community.
To each their own of course, so for me with PCCM+:

- Everything works in the car
- Looks almost like it came from the factory
- Looks great
- Did not have to change speakers
- Did not have to change amp
- Sounds somewhat better than the CDR23
- Porsche Premium you have to pay for purchase and install (if you can't DIY)
- Instructions that come with the system are pretty much slim to none, so research on line is a must.

There weren't many issues getting installed in my 2001 with the Nokia DSP radio (Non-Bose/Non-Most): https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...l#post17796337
If going to the dealer, make sure they have all the parts to install the radio or order them yourself. My car needed a new bracket to hold the radio. I have none of the volume related issues that have been reported.

I think the PCCM+ is a must have.
Pros: Brings the car into 2022. The sound quality is incredible.
Cons: Small software glitch that resets the trip odometer randomly.
Tips: Install the microphone for Bluetooth into the factory microphone location (mine is a ‘03), in the instrument cluster to the left.
