A short “tail” about wing replacement
Have an 01 40k miles and the rear wing operated perfectly, but I wanted a more aggressive look so I sourced a Misha gt2 wing.
Pulled the old wing and installed the new wing with no problems. Went to lower the Misha wing and it didn’t go down right away. Hit the button again and the left side went down, kinda fast and the right did not. Pushed the button to try to get the left side to go back up and it would not go back up, but can hear it run.
Disconnected the right side of the wing and was able to lift left side up enough to remove it to which the piston slammed down when disconnected from the wing.
Wing is off, both pistons down, but will not go up when the button is pushed. No signs of fluids leaks from this escapade.
Any idea where to start and Please save the comments to buy an eRam or Fixed kit…for now.
Thanks.

Carefully remove the plastic cover on the rear lid, (recommend covering engine bay with plastic or towels, in case Pentosin is leaking). The pump is attached to the plastic cover. Often the top of the pump will pop open due to the broken block. I sent mine to Mario’s Hydraulics in Florida for repair, they may sell the block if that’s what’s needed. At the time I didn’t want to be bothered with DIY, but should be doable.

Thanks. What was the cost to rebuild the pump? And does it require a speciality shop to fix it co could I find a local hydraulic shop to do the repair, assuming that is the issue.

I have two functional pumps if you need to buy. I never looked what they are worth these days.
I was going to say that some after market wings do not have the holes for the pistons aligned correctly, which causes issues when lowering. But seeing you removed the wing already, then that is not the issue.

At 40,000 miles, you might just need re-sealing (new copper washers) and a "proper " fill & bleed. Mine was behaving similar to yours at 47,000. Did everything off-car, clean, re-seal, fill, & test. It's been working fine now for a few years. Search and check out my pictures. Good luck.

I had mine done 5 years ago, cost was $700. to replace pump block and rebuild rams. Would suggest confirming if pump has failed (remove the 4 screws) block should be 1 solid piece, not in pieces.

I took a peek at the pump and I did not see the same separation at the cap as in the picture.
I did observe one thing, the piece that is on top of the ram, which locks onto the wing, I noticed that I can turn the drivers side piston too 360 degrees where as on the pass side that top pics will only turn maybe 45 degrees in either direction and then stop. Does that mean anything?
Or do I have to loosen the hex screws to look? Would fluid come out if I do?

Cracked block means you need a new pump.
