997 wheels for a 996 turbo: will they fit?
I am looking at purchasing a used set of 997 wheels with winter tires for my 2003 996 turbo.
Wheels are spec’d / listed as follows:
Rear 11x18 et51
295 30 18
Front 8x18 et57
235 40 18
Authentic Porsche BBS rims.
Tires are Nokian WR
One of the pics provided to me by the seller shows a wheel stamp of 997.362.136.00 (presumably the front wheel, from what I can tell). I don’t have a pic of the same detail for what I think is the rear wheel.
Can anyone advise whether these will fit my car? With or without spacers?
.

The offsets seem fine, fronts may stick out a bit more, but should be good to go.

There 997 wheels fit perfectly on a narrow body 996. I suspect that on a wide body 996, the rears would need spacers as I believe the Sport Techno wheels needed on the 996 TT.

Thanks all for confirming that they’ll fit. I’m going through with the transaction.
Follow up question / clarification(s): what are the spacers needed for?
- aesthetics?
- better stance?
- avoiding rubbing on fenders?
- avoid conflict with brake calipers?

But to answer your question....the answer is basically yes to all your questions.
Based on what I see from this website, I think you could be ok without spacers.
Some one feel free to correct me if I am wrong with that statement.
The 997 Wheels and Tires looks like it will sit sightly closer to your fenders than the Turbo Twists.

A quick follow up to my original post, in case anyone else has a similar inquiry. I did end up purchasing the wheels in the original post. I had 7mm spacers left over from my prior wheel set, which I kept on the rear tires. Don’t think that they were strictly necessary, but looks better than without. I am considering getting 15mm spacers for the rear, and relocating the 7mm spaces to the front. Wheels perform great and no rubbing or issues. See pics below.

Well done! How do you like the way the car drives on the snow?

Car tracks phenomenally in the snow. My best winter driver ever. Wife has an Audi Q7, which sits much higher and for a family is great, but I prefer the 911. All wheel drive and weight in the back, just where I need it. I do need to be a bit gentle on the throttle off the start, but it works great. Besides, if the car has traction at 200+ km/hr, a little snow and ice shouldn’t cause issues for daily city driving. My first winter with the car though, so still a bit curious how it’ll fare once the spring ice ruts show up in the roads.

AFWIW 997 Turbo wheels fit perfectly on 996 widebody. They're forged by Fuchs in Germany, and are the lightest wheels ever offered on a modern Turbo until the $28K Turbo S wheels in carbon fiber just last year. Definitely the strongest! A lot of people don't like them, but functionally they are a massive improvement over stock twists (lighter, stronger, lower profile)
Darn good looking wheel on 6TT IMO, but subjective I know

Ugliest wheels ever available on a factory Porsche turbo. I don't care how light they are, they are hard to look at.
