Need help with disgnosing a sound
When I drove locally around town I get a high pitched squeal coming from what sounds like the engine compartment over my right ear.
Car must be at temperature.
Only happens once I'm driving and going through the gears
When I stop at a light the sound remains consistent until I depress the clutch, that makes it stop immediately. Nothing else makes it stop.
It's not so high pitched like a loose fan belt squeal,
It doesn't happen consistently but does happen more often than not.
Hope someone has had this experience and can point me in the right direction.
Thank You.

Throw out bearing on the clutch perhaps?

Hi,
I am "new" here but not new to Porsche.Your problem is a long known issue described by Porsche in TSB 4897. The "valve" in your power steering reservoir is oscillating and creating the "whine" described as being reminiscent of a "tea kettle whistle". Replace the steering reservoir and the issue will be gone. "Most" long time early owners have long since dealt with this issue. Or else live with it and as you say "depress the clutch" to mitigate the noise.
It only happens when engine temperatures are high.

But you are welcome, and I can assure you that this indeed is your issue.

Yeah, book time is often higher than actual time.
As a flat rate mechanic, that’s what you hope for.
Expect to pay book time if you take it somewhere.
Expect it to take book time the first time or two that you do it.

Nah. A couple of hours. Less if you just replace the top portion.

Do it yourself. It's not hard. My TT has a 997 PS reservoir to address this issue. While I don't personally have a video on this topic, I've found many that discuss this top on YT. Good luck!
