Default Durametric and IBM T41 ;-(

I am having a lot of problems getting Durametric to work properly on my IBM T41 . As soon I start the software it recognized the car , I can scan for fault all the systems and suddenly it stop working and refuse to connect. Even after restarting the computer or the software... Durametric is the only software on this computer and it run Window XP...Any sugestion for something more stable, easy to operate, cheap, with a good battery that can last at least two three hours and of course more friendly with Durametric..... Thanks for your help, J.P.

You know that laptop was last manufactured in 2003 when IBM still made laptops. 20 yr old hardware / processor / memory . Durametric has minimum requirements that this likely doesn’t meet … see below…if memory serves me correct from when I used to work at ibm the best processor in that machine was 1.7 ghz one. I’d go with a more modern machine or run on it a virtual machine on a Mac. Good luck - scrh1
System Requirements
The computer on which you install Durametric should meet or exceed the specifications listed here:
  • Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP (32- or 64-bit versions). If using Windows 10 or 11 in "S-mode", it must be switched off. MacOS not supported.
  • 1.8 GHz Pentium-class, dual-core processor or faster (ARM processor not supported)
  • 1 GB Memory (RAM)
  • 1 GB available disk space
  • Available USB-A port
  • Internet connection (for installation and updates)
  • Screen resolution of 800x600 or greater
  • Enable Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 (how?). Free download for XP and Vista. .NET Framework 4 by itself does not satisfy requirements.
  • Adobe® Acrobat Reader (for viewing and printing documentation)
  • Durametric cable originally sold after April 2008 (?)

One thing to be aware of...you may not be able to use the current version of the Durametric software. I run it on my Mac using Parallels and Windows 10 and I have to use an older software version as I have an older cable. I contacted Durametric and the sent me the older software version.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try an older software from Durametric to see if it is more stable. I love this software and found it very useful but it was frustrating with this old laptop.... Need to get a newer one ...Thanks guys!

I run the latest Durametric on two older Panasonic Toughbooks.
One is a CF74 that runs Windows 7 from 2006 and another is a CF31 that now runs Windows 10 from 2010.

I have a dual core laptop, maybe 8 years old or so. It just barely gets by when I need it for durametric and watching movies. Yours has to be like a pentium 4 machine. Pretty ancient.

We still have a 286 running our shaker table - very, very ancient.

I have a T42 that's used to load programs into our CNC. The T42 recently replaced a thinkpad 760 that was nearly 30 years old.

It is interesting when replacing legacy machines; it is also interesting that legacy machines seem to run better, and, are more reliable in some cases, than new machines.

Nice, thank you.
