Did you do the GT2 slave while it was apart? If so, how is the pedal effort? I'm finally getting used to mine and having smoother 1-2 shifts.

I've felt/driven several GT2 converted cars, along with one with the BBi conversion. The clutch on all of them felt really heavy to me.

I don't miss leg day either, I'm an avid cyclist.

Yep, accumulator out, BBi slave in. Pedal is heavier, but I like it more.

The 997GT2 gearset, mainshafts and all the steel synchros from the Cup have doubled or more since 2020. Prices now are wild compared to when Copans did mine a few years ago.

I had the 997GT2 shafts & 1/2/3 gears put in mine two years ago and the parts cost was nearly 14k. That included some other gears, all the bearings, and a few other bits. Some of the parts (5th gear set) took months to get.

I was thinking with the original box, I'd put the fourth gear in it, along with a cooler. I'll save a few bucks not having to buy another case.

I'd also be curious to see the difference between a Wavetraq and Guard LSD.

Ok, and no need to drill a large hole in the case. The accumulator is dead on mine but I bypassed the clutch interlock switch and start in neutral.

CMS advised against drilling the case, so bbi it was.

I sent mine to CMS last year... $18k. Ouch; but it's fixed, and I shouldn't have any other issues, and I got the limited slip as well; which this car desperately needs.

To the OP; Search my threads, in the 2003 engine out one, I go through all of this in extreme detail. Your shop has not treated you well; regardless of what you want to believe. This is an extremely expensive unit to be "messing around with" - not a Honda Civic.

You'll need to find someone who can do the work correctly.... and it won't be cheap. At this point, if it were me, I would find a good shop and tear everything down, and start again. Likely there are some re-usable parts, but it's not worth trying to salvage what your first mechanic did. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I shipped mine to CMS in an igloo cooler and did the R&R myself.

I got PCNA to pay instead since I was such an avid student of "2nd gear popout - the how and why". Much better.

22K$! to rebuild? I'll be keeping my car in neutral moving forward. Slowly.
About 5 months into the pandemic I found a clean 01 996TT 6 speed with 130K miles for about 35K and almost had a deal worked out with the guy to trade my dc2 and civic si + some cash to make it happen

After doing research on these cars and learning about the 6 speeds i'm glad I didn't go through with it! And now im very, very happy with my tiptronic.

If I were getting into this platform to track it only I'd go with a manual..anything else is just a waste of $$ considering how underpriced tiptronics are.

Because, you too have mad skills ... Washing parts in a dishwasher is legendary.

I'd bet an aftermarket supplier would build parts If they were aware of the situation. I'm thinking we should find someone.

Someone is building gear sets for Demann and Sharkwerks...

May be a place to start.
