-Turbo versus ZO6 video-

Do we know if both cars are stock?

The Vette driver doesn't seem to know how to watch the tach...he hits the rev limiter at least twice - not too good for acceleration performance.

Oh, I like the video.

I remember a video that was around in the last year - a Vette chasing a Turbo on a track in Europe. The Vette driver had the same shifting technique...wait for the limiter to kick in for a second or two and nail the next gear. Not real efficient...

In real life, it's all a matter of who is in front on the track. If a tt is behind a ZO6, it isn't enough faster to easily pass. ZO6 turns in better, tt comes out harder. In the end, it comes down to tires and
driver.
Starting from zero, tt has advantage. Starting from 20, it's reversed, due to longer first gear on the vette. The new ZO6 will most likely crush the Porsche. We will need to point to the crappy switch gear to show how much better our cars are. AS

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the C6Z was faster than a base 996 Turbo. The difference might not be that big between the C6Z and the 997 Turbo. In the end, if a few tenths of a second advantage by the C6Z ends up being the deal breaker aginst the 997 Turbo for someone considering both cars, the so be it.

I think GM is going to have plenty of mechanical problems with the production version of the C6Z. Word is they have had problems with the valve train, and with oil blow-by on the big cylinders. One of the reasons the price hasen't been announced is GM has not decided what it's going to cost to fix these problems for production cars.

How do you know it's the Z06? That to me sounds like a Porsche's rev limiter. I have driven a Z06 and IIRC it runs out of breath a few hundred RPMs short of the rev limiter.

It sounds just like a Vettes rev limiter to me, and you can see the Vette shift right after the first limiter "sound" occurs.

The Turbo's limiter is way "softer" sounding to me, while a Vette has a hard, "popping" sound.
