The tip will shift at redline when left in the AUTO mode. It is actually more difficult to get downshifts (yes. downshifts that bring revs up, but still below redline) in manual mode. Upshifts in manual can occur at redline, but it's somewhat difficult to do on the track, since sometimes the tip shifts a little before you do. So, altogether, it's quicker to leave it in full auto, even at the track.
Redline shifts are not critical in a tt, and even those owners with manual tend to shift several hundred revs below redline. The upshift at that point still puts you in the heart of the torque curve. (remember, hp and torque are eqaul at 5250 rpm, and torque is higher below that) AS
