Isn't that 450 Horse Power close to the GT2? I wonder what thier market strategy is here?

Market strategy ? What market strategy ?
They made the GT2 so F****** exclusive by it's limited production. They forget that there might be a market for the GT3 in the US, (there is). They give us a Turbo that rides like a Cadillac, and make no performance suspension parts available. There can be no strategy behind this. I'm beginning to believe that Porsche has lost their way.

450 HP DIN (444 HP SAE) is at the flywheel. The GT2 is rated at 462 HP DIN (456 HP SAE).

I just don't get the strategy here...I wonder where they are taking all of this. It seems that with the 993TT's they made an "S" version and that made some sense. But with a GT-2 and the two versions of the Turbo? Oh well, Porsche does say that thier "exclusive" department will build almost custom tailored cars.

By the way I would love to have purchased the GT-3. Porsche should have imported it!

Who knows what Porsche is doing?...My dealer as well dislikes the 996 Turbo, compares it to a Lincoln...

The more I look at it the more I hate it.

If any of you have access to that car magazine called EVO, check out this months issue. They have all of the GT/RS/RSR spec Porsches in one test.

They rate the GT2 relatively poorly.
The 3 cars tied for top spot are the 1974 Carrera RS2.7, the 1990 964 RS ( i think only available in Europe, and the 1999 GT3.

Its all about money my friends. The GT2 is $60,000 more than a 996TT. Many customers want more power and 4 wheel drive for "their personal reasons" and therefore Porcshe can "scoop" another $18,000 fast and easy. Many customers never heard of RENNLIST and only know wht the dealer tells them.......more power get the $18,000 option. YAda, yada yada. Like I said before.....they should make a 2 wheel drive 996TT and let us have the "option" of adding stuff. Then we could have $99,000 GT2 with some simple hotrodding .......with what I have in my 1995 993RS CS I could have almost paid for a 996GT2.......same story as many other people who are on this list. Still no regrets and alot of fun.

The 911 Turbo also offers an optional X50 engine enhancement performance
package that increases horsepower to 444 (SAE) @ 5,700 rpm and sustains
457 lb.-ft of peak torque from 3,500 to 4,500 rpm. The new package includes
modifications to the turbocharger, air intake cooler, electronic control unit,
exhaust system, as well as a strengthened transmission. The X50 package is
only available as an option from the Porsche factory

i have seen a post that showed the power output for each year based on the engine serial # range that included standard and X50. Searched for it and cannot find it. It showed HP numbers that varied considerably. I think 2002 was the highest? Yet the Porsche brochure #s are constant Anybody know about this?
