Default Possible 996TT tiptronic purchase

I have been looking for a daily driver TT for some time and think I might have found something that is worthy. It is a 2001 996TT out in San Diego. The only thing I am not sure on is the Tiptronic. How do the board members feel driving the tiptronic for daily driving and then some spirited drives? Are there any issues or recalls I should be looking out for? Any information is helpful in this purchase.

The car is a higher mileage ago, around 60K, but with it being a driver I am a little less concerned with it. If it has had all the correct maintenance done then I am OK going with it. Having a 993TT and then adding in a 996TT seems a little night and day but I am not sure I can drive the 993 everyday.

The Tip in the Turbo is pretty close to bullet proof. Boring but bullet proof.

How much value do you place on the involvement that comes with driving a manual?

The only problem I have with it is it LOVES 4th gear and will do anything to get there...down shifts are pretty quick though. Reality is for most daily tooling around you can flip it to manual and hang out in 2nd, all spooled up and ready to go when u need it.

I enjoy shifting a lot but am not so overwhelmed by it during the daily commute. I would like to get out to the track the odd days with the car but I have the 993TT to do that well. My main issue right now with the tiptronic is whether or not it is strong enough for this car. It sounds like it is but I am looking for input into how it drives and what the maintenance, if any, is for the tranny.

Ruf does not upgrade the tiptronic until about 650 HP and above I beleive. Should be good to go for handling the power.

Tips are great, and plenty fun to drive in manual mode.

Don't know if this helps but I have a Tip in my new C2s (I kinda don' t have a choice and have to have a Tip) but in the manual mode it is fun and you have to know how to drive a Tip to get the most out of it. I am still learning some of it's little tricks.
