rafiki,

Stage 1: Performance optimizing by ECU reprogramming, sport air filter, high performance catalytic converter i.T.
Stage 2: stage 1 + modified intake system, exhaust with sports catalytic converter, SPORTEC turbocharger K16.520
Stage 3: stage 2 + Carbon air filter case, SPORTEC turbocharger K16.550, high performance clutch, speedometer conversion to 360 kph and 9000 rpm

Besides stage 3, I had the intercoolers of the GT2 (25% more surface than Turbo), the brakes cooling ducts and the front brakes of the GT3 (350mm, 6 pistons) installed. All in all sort of an expensive upgrade, but it seems to hold quite well...

Pierre,

Congrats on the 300 Birthday!!!

You get great fuel economy!!

I noticed on your Pic it said 458kms ---> Empty.

I filled mine up today and it stated 270kms ----> Empty.

Condor, this was in the middle of a hiway trip with quite some traffic, no speeding at all, etc. Here's what I got 2-3 weeks ago after a similar trip in the early morning with dense but flowing traffic:

(26.7 mpg)

On the other end of the scale, the most I've ever seen was 42l/100km (5.6 mpg). That was during a race in Lédenon (south of France) during a very hot summer. On the Nordschleife, I'm typically at 30-32l/100km (7.5 mpg)

While you are talking about how to have longevity...don't forget a warm up not exceeding 4K rpm until the car reaches operating temperature. Also just driving the car is important and far enough to reach full operating temp. When you calculate the hours on an airplane between service events, you need to add "hours of use" for each month it sits idle...

I have a tip and shift it manually...so the trans. is not hunting for gears, excess shifts.

The car is my daily...and I plan to keep it for many years also. I only drive approx. 10K a year.

talking about warm-ups...do you guys wait a while to warm the engine at cold engine starts or do you drive immediately upon start up but keep the revs low until reaching normal temps. when i refer to cold start up's, i mean when starting the car in the morning and not in areas of the country where outside temps can get real low..

I wait about 1 minute till she settles a little. However the Service Manager at Porsche advised m that this is not necessary.

Having stated this; I won't take the car over 3,000 RPM for at least 10 minutes after the gauge shows that the car is at operating temp.

Have 11,971 KMS on the clock and I can account for everyone of them and therefore I know that my car has not been subjected to any COLD fangs which would potentially damage the engine.

Once again Pierre,

I hope you keep enjoying your car!!

Pierre- T2 - WOW

I have been reading and considering buying a 02 but was concerned it had 80K on it. Maybe a good inspection and a clean bill of health could change the hesitation.

Is there anything that failed that I need to focus on?

Regards, Mike

I saw the KY one but have not been able to do a carfax on it. I get the feeling it has some history but have not spoken to them.

Off to E-bay- thanks sker66- It may have become easier than I thought to find a car. - I also have a 95 968 cab I just dissassembled, painted and replaced all the body molding. great little cars.

regards- Mike

I ran the carfax a while back. The first owner put on almost 80k miles and had the car until last year, iirc. It's still over-priced, imo - for a few grand more, you can find 996TTs with almost half the miles/wear. I'm interested to see how high it goes on eBay.

That a touch excessive, don't you think?

I sure do. Personally, I wait until the oil pressure is at 1.5 bar (i.e, as low as it gets) at idle. This is usually shortly after the car reaches full operating temp.
