This has ben addressed about 20 times. Look uo the subject and the suggested driving procedures to modify this. Range is 800 miles per quart (said to be "normal" by dealres) to 8,000 miles per quart (my 02 X50). AS

Yes, 800-900 miles a quart here, I keep a case of 0w40 in the garage and a quart in the car.

In another thread, I commented that mine uses none. However, I was just up in Gettysburg PA and ran into an issue where my "low oil/check oil" message came on. I put a quart in and it brought up to the middle mark on the "checker" in the computer...

I'm changing it this week in preparation for VIR in two weeks, so it's gonna get topped off completely with a fresh filter...

Around town driving and mine uses about a quart every 1000 miles.

ON THE OTHER HAND....in the last week I've put close to 1500 miles on the car running the roads in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming at 5000 to 8000 ft elevation and she aint used a drop...and I've got about 750 miles more to get home.

Go figure.

Ive had mine since 9,200 miles, and now I have almost 11,000, but I still haven't had any need to put oil in it. I check almost everytime I return to the garage, but it still registers as full. Is this atypical?

If those are city miles, then yes.

This sounds extremely strange especially if your car is a 996 Turbo.

Do you rev the car over 3500 ever??

Most of my miles are in the burbs. I don't drive like Mario Andretti on city streets, but its not babied by any means.

I do check all the time - and I have a quart of Mobil 1 0W-40 on my shelf just waiting to be added. Still registers as full. Dont know what to make of it.

I get about 1Kmile/qt. It all depends on how your driving.

My turbo reminds me of a two stroke motorcyle.

I top the oil up every 4 - 5 tanks!!

No...down 1 mark is like .25 liter (from min-max is 1.5 liters)

I just drove 2000 miles in 4 days and did a track day as a part of it. I averaged 25.2MPG on the road and did't use 1 bar of oil on the gauge.
