As I contemplate upgrading my 18" oem twist wheels it seems many of the wheels I like only come in 19" size. When I check with major tire dealer for the suggested size, it comes up with 225/35 and 305/25 and lists only one tire!

What are the suggested tire size for OEM fitment 19" wheels that won't have issues with rubbing, etc. I' currently on pss9's.

I really like the options for tires at the 18" size and currently running the Sumitomo's with excellent results.

How much more severe are the 19" on ride comfort?

Maybe I just need to find a wheel I like that comes in 18" size. I'm leaning toward the Champion RG5 style.

Some guys run 19s, but I've stuck with 18s for a couple of reasons. I track my car (PSS9s as well) and there is a tire size availability issue, as well as a "handling" issue some have complained about with the 19s. Champion RG5 pattern is fairly common. I've look for something similar in an 18. Wouldn't want to be stranded far from home with an "Only one tire available" option and no way to get the current tire repaired.

I like 19 inch wheels too, but was told increasing wheel size is not a good idea. something about the increased rotating mass **** off the differentials .

My street wheels are OZ Superleggeras in 19". No problems at all here.
I have three sets of track tires, all 18".

You can run 19s as long as you keep the tire diamete within 3% front to rear. if you go beyond that, you'll kill your front diff. This isn't a "19s vs. 18s" issue, as you must keep that in mind with 18s as well.

Put some 235/40/18's and 315/30/18's on the car and you will forget about 19" wheels. These wider tires make the car feel so planted there will be no need for anything else.

I think most people go to 19's because they like the way they look. If there's no tracking, there's no harm.

I stayed with stock 18s on my TT. Your car looks perfect as is - save the $$ for something else!

255/30 19 (25.1 Diameter) in front with the 315/25 19 (25.2 Diameter). Thats almost perfect in toyo sizes.

Have a set of OZ 19's and HRE 18's (for track). Honestly don't find any deterioration in handling with the 19's (running Yoko's). Like the look and the ride is fine (also on PSS9's FWIW).

I have the stock 19" rims from the 997 Turbo on mine (with Michelin Sport Cup) and am very happy with the result. Plenty of grip, although they are of course a bit noisy (semi slicks) and cannot be recommended in rain - but then again it only rains once a year over here (one week in February...).

every different manufacturer has slightly different size specs for the same size tires, and also may offer only a certain size as opposed to what others do, You just take a shot at the ones you like
