If you do not mind me asking, how in the world did you put so many miles on it? For ANY car that is a LOT of driving.

Meeyatch1,
I have a long drive for work - a couple of upsides though - a get a permasmile twice a day and the area I live in is a nice place to return to after a long day..........Some say commuting sucks and on some days it can but with todays Nav's and plenty of back roads to explore there is no reason not enjoy the car every day - that's my opinion anyway.

I tell all my friends who are nay-sayers about high mileage Porsches about your car T2.
Im also looking forward to the pics!
The big question, are you ever going to sell it?

When you have as many miles as T2 has, why stop? This has to be a record. I think Porsche would love to get there hands on that car when he is done..whenever that is?? What year car is it anyway?
Just turned 77K and feeling good thanks to T2!
I can't believe there still Porsche 911 Turbo owners who would rather look at their car in the garage than dive it. You only live once!

wisky,
It's not for sale and will never be - I recall looking at the C4S's and the Turbo's back in the day and thinking how much I wanted a Turbo but did I want to make the jump right into one - glad I decided to do so. My salesman still tells the funny story of me driving in my then 2000 Integra Type R (what an awesome track car on Kuhmo's and with the Euro Recaro seats) and just syaing I wanted the Turbo - nto your typical sale I guess but he now says you have converted alot of us over to keeping the cars we have. Hard to believe that.
I have no plans to get rid of the car ever - as long as they make parts and it can be repaired I will drive it. I do have a desire to pick up a nice 996 GT-2 some day or another 996 Turbo for the bride to drive.
I have also thought about sending it back to the factory at some point - maybe 500,000 miles for a complete factory refurb and then take a Euro delivery. That would be a hoot of a time!!
I do plan to get the car into the shop in January to replace both Turbo's - the drivers side internal waste gate is rattling like a SOB - it will probably also be a good time to drop the engine and reseal the engine - there is one small oil drip I want to get addressed.
Thanks for all the great thoughts and here's to another 180,000 miles............T2......continues to knock on wood

To all,
I rolled past 340,000 miles this morning on the way in.
I put some GT2 turbo twists on it last night and got some pictures of the car - nice shiny rims with salt and dirt all over the rest of the car.
Here are a couple of pictures.
I'll clean it up this weekend and post a couple more.

noporsche,
If the car comes with a stack of receipts, you should assume that more receipts will be added to the stack by your checkbook. That is not an indictment of the fact that these are strong reliable cars.
There's plenty of reasonable mileage deals out there, why not consider them? Last year I bought a car with 20k miles on it and no stack of receipts. None since I bought it either.

If you've been buying them for over a decade, I expect I was buying them when you were in diapers or even before.
Not sure why you asked if you already made up your mind, enjoy it.

T2: I do not see any pics but thanks for the update. My 03 has just over 90K miles and I feel better and better about the car knowing a similar car has racked nearly 4 times that number of miles with the engine essentially untouched.
(On a side note I have to brag a bit... my 02 Boxster passed it smog check Monday with pretty good numbers and with 254710 miles on its original engine and converters.)
Sincerely,
Macster.

Cannon gave you a pretty good list. Many of us bought our 996tts for two reasons. 1) they are great cars (even by today's standards) and iconic in that they are the first water cooled 911s. 2) they are easy to work on and there are some great mods available.
That said, buying a moded Porsche is a double edge sword. If the owner is like a lot of us and took great care to make sure the mods were done properly and resulted in a well sorted car, then you can get a great deal. Of not, it can be a headache. You really need to take the time to understand what was done to the car and check out who did it. Also, a PPI from a really reputable shop.
Good luck.
PS. T2 is my hero.
PSS. You can't hear squeaks and rattles above 4500 rpm so why worry about them.
