At least a plaque or something!
I bet they're aware of the car. If anything interesting were to happen on that front I would imagine it wouldn't be until after the hopeful million mile mark.

That is truly amazing. RESPECT! And I look forward to seeing the 999,999 mile click over. On the bright side, you’ll be able to sell it as a low mileage car with less than 10,000 on the clock..🤣

Meanwhile, my 997 turbo (50K miles) is bleeding money with unsolvable driveline issues. Not all 911 turbos are born equal.

I heard some companies used to give you a new car after a million miles. I remember the million mile Volvo and would see it up in lime rock park. That’s a great pic. Lots of happy miles motoring I’m sure.

It's impressive that this car is/was tracked somewhat regularly

the mezger is a stout motor

I believe they have taken it apart and inspected it, and put it back together with the original parts, so, yes, very stout indeed.

IIRC, they actually rebuilt it with new parts anyways but the original parts had virtually no wear.

His maintenance routine is also a contributing factor as well and it's impressive to actually see someone stick to it and watch the results play out.

We ain't taking these cars to the grave, gotta drive them while you can!

I do believe that is the benchmark for mileage. It's funny there's a multi brand nearby dealership with some ridiculous sign on an old ratted out Subie and it says "300K! miles" and I thought... B.F.D.

Sort of in the same boat with my 50k 997tt, far more costly to keep operational than the 996tt. Hoping to be over the major hump soon with mine thanks to Kevin

This is by far the best thread! I knew that our 2001 996TT was bulletproof at 134K miles, but had no idea she had at least 5X more life

Time for a wash and oil change…

What is the highest mileage recorded for a stock internal 996 Turbo? Looks like T2 got 383k before a rebuild.

Hi all,

Porsche Germany knows me...very well. I was there in Mar2019 for a rather cool visit. Met some of the people whose last project was the 996 turbo and got to hear their stories of this awesome machine (from concept through testing at Hockenheim and then the launch drive from Germany to the Paris auto show in 2000), still in touch with them. They were equally amazed I've taken that car to depths they had not seen on a modern super car.

The car was originally intended to be driven when I bought it and never thought it would be hitting 700k. My goal is 1,000,000 miles. Then it ships back to Germany for a period in the museum, then they can perform whatever restoration they want, then I take delivery of my like new car and drive Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 3 months, the small towns. Then it ships back to the states for more memories. That's the ultimate dream. If all goes to plan, I can achieve this in my late 60's-ish, hopefully still healthy and full of **** and vinegar to enjoy this forever dream and memory.

I hope to make a cross country trip in the next few years....maybe Rennsport Reunion 8, or maybe it'll be a *#$% it trip and I just go for a very long ride..........to wherever.

Had the incredible experience of driving this fine piece of asphalt in Nov2023.

The car has been remarkably and yet not unsurprisingly VERY reliable. The only reason we took the engine apart at 383k was for me, a naturally curious engineer, so really see what was inside...it was flawless. I mean FLAWLESS!! Drive this flipin cars and change the oil every 5000 miles with Mobil 1 0W-40, never look back.

I still say they need a commercial showing the key turning to the right and the smile happening on the face simultaneously. That would be a funny one - I'd know...it happens at least twice a day.

Enjoy your's and get out and drive it!!

Fantastic! Are they not restoring it for you and giving it back at 1m miles?
