It all about the condition. PPI, Photos, maintenance records, history...

Couldn't possibly judge a car with that limited of a description. Post the link or describe it and you will get better answers to your question. Search some of the reach threads about auction results and other cars for sale. Recent Excellence gave market update if you "subscribe" to their guide. I have always thought they were a bit skewed.

If it checks out in a complete PPI, that would be an excellent price. You might try to figure out why the asking proce is so cheap though. NADA retail is 39k. KBB would be higher.

Never been wrecked or repainted except maybe just the front bumper cover. No dents, dings or scratches. Everything works. Lots or brake pad and rotor wear left, clutch an accum are good and it stays in second when running it up near redline and quickly decelerating a few times in succession. Hands off the wheel at 120 MPH, braking hard it will stay in your lane. Pulls .8 bar boost. Tool kit and spare with pump, locking lug socket, all books, service records in order, 2 remote and valet keys included.

If it's all there and passes a PPI, buy it!

At that price does it even matter if it's had a PPI?? Lol

Absolutely.

Because, if you buy it and it immediately needs many thousands of dollars' worth of work - the good deal disappears quickly. So, a PPI will help avoid a moneypit with an initial low purchase price.

According to Excellence I think it is in line. Could be sweet deal if PPI and records look good.

If that car checks out or even needs a little work it's a smoking deal.

Not meaning to hijack - but here's some more info/perspective:

I'm deciding on taking a friends 2002 Turbo for $35k with 31k miles. Black on black (an issue since I want seal gray), Have not done a ppi but he's the second owner and has only had small issues over the years I've known him (door lock, switch here or there, some lights on the controls, ect. Tires have about 5k on them, just had its 30k service. Oh, the front bumber was resprayed a year or so ago after someone bumped him in the parking lot we use - I see the car most every day.

He's trading it for the 997 Turbo. I'm highly considering it - but for the color it would be a done deal

6 spd? Other than the paintwork (and, front bumper is the most common so probably the least worrisome from a value standpoint), that sounds like a very desirable turbo, and he could probably get nearly $10k more for it in the private market than the price he's offering you.

If I were you, it'd be a no-brainer (still, assuming a thorough PPI clears everything major), but only you can decide if the color is too much of a compromise for you.
