Try the Hankook Ventus V12, they are outstanding tires for the price. Michelins are over priced, and the Hankooks have more sidewall plies. C&D did a test on these tires and were very impressed

the only thing i liked about hankook v12's were the price. $680 a set? beyond that, the only recommendation for them that i might have, is they fit. in terms of durability and ride? compared to ps'2's, they don't. in my estimation. i would agree that as a "street tire" they're ok, if all one does is drive sedately from (a) to (b), but who among us does that?

Kumho XS are a great tire in the dry. They are wonderful summer tires for around $1000 a set. C&D tested them against the PS2 and they outperformed them in the dry, not the wet.

Some folks are just brand loyal, and feel price drives a better product. Michelin is well known for their marketing!
I had both and can attest the Hankooks on the street are just as good from a handling persepctive and better from a ride and noise perspective.

Just put a set of Hancooks on last week and they seem to grip the road extremely well and the noise is much less that my PS2's. I am very happy with them so far... and I don't feel as bad tearing them up since they are more affordable. I will check back with another comment on the in about 5000 miles.

Discount Tire as well. That's where I got mine. They were 8 something installed, with disposal fee etc.
I had PS2s, but a rear went bad on a trip. I had been planning to replace them with the GT2 sizes in PS2, but when the tire went bad I had to go with what was available on short notice. I had heard the Hankooks were good and they were in stock so I went with them.
I have to admit I have been pleased. They are in fact noticeably quieter than the PS2, and the ride is a little better. When you push them really hard there is a slight vague feeling at turn in (as compared to the PS2) and then they bite hard. You can push them pretty darn hard and they won't let go. Wet weather performance is excellent.
I'm not saying they are better than the PS2, but they are quite good (especially for the money) and I have been pleasantly surprised.
Unless you are a hard core track guy, or a totally insane street driver, you won't miss the PS2s.
As 4 wear, I have 4000 on them. I just had my annual state inspection and had the guy check the thread depth on the inside of the rears. Based on his measurement, I'm on track to get 16k miles out of the rears. I have an X73 running -2.1 camber. That's really good from a wear perspective.
