Arrived home today in the 'new' '03 996TT, took my wife out for a ride. First off, she is not a car enthusiast - doesn't like fast rides. I knew what her reaction would be....
I wanted to setup the GoPro, but that was forbidden.

Went about 5 miles, just puttering around - then I asked her if she wanted to feel what the boost was like...she said "yes" (oh boy).

So I give her a little burst in 3rd gear...after a few seconds she said (and I quote)

"Stop, stop, stop....don't do that again...don't ever do that again with me in the car."

"And don't show that to the kids either"

I texted this to a buddy of mine and he commented...
"that's good - now you know that you got the right car"

funny, when I first met my girlfriend she drove a Nissan Cube, slow little boring box. She drove like an old lady and it concerned me that we may not be a perfect fit. In fact she was never really happy about riding in my 930. At that time I drove a Toyota Tacoma but when my lease was up I picked up a G37 Infinity. One day her Cube was in the shop so she borrowed the G37. 3 days later I say "can I get my car back?" and she is reluctant. Then out of the blue she says "your car has more go than mine".. I think she got the bug, now she likes riding in my 930 and actually asks me if i'm picking her up in it...

So if your girl isnt a speed freak, let her behind the wheel and it may just change her mind.

Gave my gf her first ride in my new to me '03 996ttX50 and she said:"it's good, but it's not much faster than your previous car". She almost felt disapointed.

Well my previous car was a 300hp Lotus Elise and the power to weight is in favor of the Lotus, but still, the 996tt has much more torque and when I punch it in 3rd or 4th gear, there is no contest the Porsche is faster.

I took it as an agreement to start modding.
