Default Did i do something crazy buying 996 turbo x50 ?

Hello guys

i had a post last week between a 993 c4s and a twin turbo 996. i drove the c4s and its very sluggish imo. I presently have a 996 c2 01 for 6 years which i love full warranty.

Today i lost my mind and left a deposit in a 996 turbo 03 x50 package with no warranty.

the car will be inspected at porsche and yes all records looks crazy nice . black on black.

Can i have advice please, i need to confirm the deal.

are these cars really that tough ?

x50 ? just more power ? does that equal more headaches. Need advice on these turbos, its a sunday car , no tracking, no daily driver.

Please let me know if i lost my mind.

If it's a good example of an X50, then you have done a great thing!

But you do need to make sure it's a good car. If you're confident it is, carry on - you'll love it!

The common problems are well documented around here. Make sure it's clear of gear popout, spoiler hydraulic leaks, diff seapage, etc...

GT1 based engines are the toughest of the bunch. Get your PPI, but slim chance your children will have to go work in the sweatshops.

If you can't afford to take a hit, don't buy the car.

Invest in a aftermarket warranty. There was a thread about this not to long ago.

Easy care is one of the two that I would recommend.

Just out of curiosity, what is the price for the car. I am also looking to upgrade to a turbo from my '01 C4... you can PM me the info if you don't want to post it up. Thanks

Black on black
X50
Ceramic brakes
Flashed
Fabspeed
Pss10
Fully loaded
Techart wheels.

It's really a good looking car. I need to give a 2001 mint c2 similar miles plus 20k and I get this car. At this point I left a deposit and waiting for Porsche to really inspect it properly.

All records are clear and well serviced car.

Wonder if this is really a good deal. 2 different cars , it's speed today surprised me. It's very fast. But the c2 is still an awesome ride.
I drove a 96 c4s earlier in the week which is so slow compared to this. I drove a 997 turbo and it's not as fast as this. Not sure if it's the flash or what but it really performs.

You're asking us if you are crazy? LMAO.

My honest opinion, if you are stressed over it, then you should probably walk away and buy a Camry. It's just a car and these more than most are big boy toys.

That said the motor in these cars is one of the most durable high performance power plants ever built.

If you decide to move forward, get a good PPI and enjoy.

Thank you guys I really appreciate your time. I understand sbout the if you can't play with the big boys then don't play theory but the reason for the posting was to know if I have to be aware of any issues and if I was losing my mind to walk into a dealer and buy a car in 10 mins. I know these cars 996 well I've been driving one for 6 years now and it's really reliable but I just wanted to upgrade into the big boy territory as many would call this but a heads up on possible hits was appreciated, especially if one repair can cost more than the car. Example 996 c2 ims. trying to svoid that hit by buying a 996 turbo. Yes I can afford the repair , but I'd rather the turbo upgrade.

Thank you
