Default Shift Selection Options

My stock gear selector on my 04tt with 60k miles is starting to shift somewhat differcult. Car is street drive only. In addition to replacing stock set up what are my other options. Looking for a smooth shifting set up Do not what a short shift set up.

Thanks

No short shift= no change
gt3 shifter is 10% shorter I believe
check all your plastic clips, bushings and cables.

GT3 shifter FTW. I had a B&M before, throw is a bit longer with the GT3, but a lot more precise.

Have you considered motor mounts? Admittedly, a 2004 with 60K might be a little early but most people report much smoother shifts after new mounts when the old ones have failed.

the GT3 shifter is a bit shorter than the stock 996 shifter but, more importantly, is has all metal bushings. I like mine.

I run the 997ssk and it is nice. It doesn't have the metal bushings but, still nice.

When the shifter in my 03 Turbo broke the tech replaced it with one from a 997. Much nicer shifter. Not a short throw shifter either.

Have to point out that shifting experience is a combination of the shifter hardware and the transmission.

If you are experiencing difficulty in shifting it may not be due to the shifter and a new shifter won't help. It could though of course eliminate the shifter from the list of possible cause for the difficult shifting.

A clutch and clutch hydraulic system in less than perfect working order -- due to bad fluid/air or even moisture in the fluid -- can also produce a less than satisfying shifting experience.

Have you had the clutch (and brakes) flushed and bled within the last 2 years?

Are the engine and transmission mounts still original?
