I have not found the 19" significantly harsher than the 18" and it has not been a challenge.

SSST - "odd PSM near the limit?" I haven't tried either size at 190 mph plus so I can't comment on odd PSM near the limit.
car looks stellar ( and new ) nice touch on the rear lettering too. never saw that one before.

Ah! Boulevard racer. You are probably fine going in a straight line. I was talking about carving curves near the limit of tire grip. The type of stuff that give the PSM something to think about.

those wheels look great, ride height looks all wrong. You get great road clearance, but at the expense of poor handling. Many RL's have mentioned that the 996 suspension was not designed with 19" wheels in mind; others that currently ride on 19's state they have no issues.

But I think they'd both agree that the ride height would need some adjustment.

YMMV

I have both, and didn't see a tremendous difference between the two. Tire size limits options available with 19s, but other than that I don't see a disadvantage.

I have 18s on the car now, and go back and forth on selling the 19s. If I were to remove the front differential, I think I would put the 19" Champions back on and use the GT2 wheels for the track.

The car is on coilovers.

I have a similar question about 19" wheels. My 02 996tt has the stock 18" wheels, PSS10 installed and the front diff was removed by the previous owner. I track the car a few times a year and use it mostly on the weekends.

Can I run 19x8.5 or 19x9 front and 19x12 rear (30 series tire)?

Thanks,
Saadi

Depends what width you're planning on running on the fronts and the offset of the rims. Offset will be critical to making sure you don't get rubbing when turning the wheels to full lock. That being said you need to watch the outer diameter of the tires. When I tried 235/40s in the front they were too tall and rubbed the front inner fender liners.

Additionally, running 305/30-19s will eat away the inner fender liners on the inside rear just in front of the boost hoses. The PO had replaced the rears with some tires off of a set of 997 TT wheels. It works and you'll find more tires available, but be prepared for some rubbing. A 315/25-19 will give you a better diameter, but fewer tire selections to choose from. I had heard that the GT2 had more clearance on the inside, but that is a myth. The inner fender liners have two different part numbers, but you will receive the same part when ordering. I know as I had both sitting in my living room...the part number stamped in the GT2 part was the same as the regular 996TT version, it just costs more.

The GT2 front inner liners do have a bit more room, but there is no issue if sticking with a 235/35-19.

Long story short, pay attention to the outer diameter of your tires as there isn't enough clearance for a 26.2" OD.

Default 19's on stock suspension

I am pretty happy with my 19's on a stock suspension.
