it isn't even about the parts. it's about the folks that let all that happen. so many of these to choose from. don;t choose that one.

Ok thanks for the info all, I know you're right. Was stretching to try to find some good in this. Was trading him the race car in my avatar, hence my focus on this one.

I'd say $8-9k. But run, it's an indication the PO didn't take care of the car at all and probably trashed the hell out of it. Who knows what else is lurking and waiting to spring. Best $300 you ever spent.... RUN FOREST RUN

Say engine and tranny are good, still tranny needs to come out to do a clutch job, possibly engine to fix leak....
Don't know what to tell you in terms of $$...it depends on the labor...dealer is a lot more than an independent shop...

I wouldn't bother unless the $$$ is really right!

You are looking at around 8-12k if all corrected properly depending on the shop rate, and parts.

What blows my mind, the owner must be ready to take a bath on the sale, looks like he does not care to fix it and then sell it. Maybe financial, who knows.

What are the details of the car? Color, year, miles, asking price?

Too many others out there, however, I can see how the trade dynamic could add a lot of value.

Been a long time since I've been on Rennlist and I forgot how great everyone is here!!

Anyway, I'm placing the value on the car around 40k. I am trading my C6 Corvette race car and getting some cash. The car comes with the original wheels, plus a set of 997 Turbo rims and some GT3 style rims and the stock exhaust. I was going to put on the stock exhaust and stock wheels and sell the rest. the car is an 01 Artic silver, just hit 50k miles. MSRP when new 129. Full leather, nav, "upgraded" stereo. The seller is a club racer as well and he is pretty shocked by the PPI. I have not talked to the tech who looked at the car. Honestly, the dealer was a bit of a PITA to deal with.

I sold an old BMW once and a PPI was done and I was shocked by the results. car was 20 years old and had some oil seepage yet was written up as leaking.

What bothers me is the shifter (seller says it's a new Porsche Motorsports shifter) and the clutch, which he says was done 7k miles ago. Waiting to see the receipt for that.

The accumulator was replaced at 27k.

The other big issue is the kinked A/C line - how the heck does that happen??!!

Again, big thanks for all the quick feedback..

I know I should run from this, but race cars take a long time to sell these days! If I can determine the leak is just a seep, maybe I can get some cash in the deal to fix these items.

With the rubbing axles, kinked A/C line, tire wear and other damage, I suspect the car has been up against a barrier or two.

I note the owner is a club racer...

Yeah I would run. Too much headache there unless your a great DIY guy and want a project. Tires alone will run you 2K.
