my car shows an average of 19.5 MPG. I do about 50/50 highway and back roads. The only "city " driving I have is for about 2 miles on my 20 mile commute.

Reset your on board computer if you haven't done so in a while. It will show a lot more at first if it makes you feel better.
Who buys these cars for gas mileage savings? When I put my foot down it probably does 8-9,so what...

When's the last time you reset the gauge? I reset everything (consumption trip/speed) every fillup and compare with my hand calculations (hard to do when you're not sure you've filled up to the same level each time).

I've found my computed efficiency is about 1mpg optimistic. I get 17.5ish around town and as high as 26-27 all highway. My normal commute is about 6 miles and just enough to warm up the oil. surface roads, but not much stop-and-go.

Your right gas mileage is not a priority dealing with these cars, but it is pretty impressive to have this kind of performance and still be far above cars in its class!

Accuracy is the average deviation from a "true" value (usually some reference standard...certified from some Gov't specified organization...like NIST for example)

As you can tell I'm an analytical statistician...LOL

My fuel computer isn't accurate. Did a couple hundred miles on I-5 80 plus mph. Computer showed 26.5 mpg but I did 225 miles as 9.8 something gallons which is around 22 plus.
I have k 28,'s tune, exhaust so maybe it was fooled byy the aftermarket studd

Because of the design of the fuel tank, when at or below around a quarter of a tank remaining, the computer is estimating fuel remaining. Therefore the average mpg at this point is an estimate and not a calculation based on a more accurate accounting of the fuel.

Fill your tank up, drive the fuel down to half a tank, and after filling back up with a known amount of fuel just do the math calculation and see what you averaged.

Gas mileage is something I never think/care about when it comes to this type of car/performance. I drive 4cyl cars when just doing everyday things and am glad to save the gas.

I'm right in the bell curve also, after 3 months and nearly 5K miles. Daily commute is freeway literally 200 feet from backing out of my driveway to the onramp, then 24 miles at speed on the freeway until the last 1/2 mile to the shop. So the car gets a tad better mileage than the 993 4S.

I did notice sub 5MPG at Chuckwalla a few weeks ago, over about 120 miles. Makes the normally aspirated 3.8L in the faux 993RS seem economical.

Its a nice area but roads are terrible and not a lot of euro car people. Have 13 acres with a couple hundred year old house that attracted me so its a trade off.

I'm quite happy at the mileage my 996tt gets, especially compared to my 930. I'm happy if that one breaks into double digits!

I put my computer on BAR. When the dash gauge approaches "E" I shove gas in the round hole in the passenger fender, can't help you with numbers unfortunately.

That beast has never disappointed me however much gas it sucks up! Anything is better than my boat that sucked a gallon every 20 seconds....
