Do you mind if I ask what the seller wants for it?
He's asking 45k.

Red on red -- killer!
A tip can be a different kind of fun.

Sounds like a very fair price. Again, assuming it passes PPI (which I assume it will).

Shifts become more crisp and it revs out more freely. I think until you push the car a bit, you will not really appreciate the potential of the tip. Is it ever going to give you the control and raw driving experience of a manual? No. But it is quite good in its own right. This coming from a guy who prefers manual transmissions...

I think the most important thing, as some have mentioned, is what modifications you have planned for the car. For big hp builds, the 6-speed will most likely be a better option, but the tip should handle around 500~550 whp.

Car looks great btw.
I found out the same thing with my Tip. When I first drove it, it felt sluggish because I didn't get on it. However, when you put the pedal to the floor, the car giddy ups! To get the most out of the car, you need to shift with the Tip buttons. My motor is out right now for a leak from the oil tank. So while it's out, I have new turbos and a tune going in, and having my coolant pipes welded.

Driving turbocharged vehicles fast, the bottom line is to get boost, you need lots of rpm. A tip from a dig really shines in that dept because you don't need alot of skill and have to worry about overrevs and missed shifts. Not to mention blown clutches, synchronizers, 2nd gear pop outs..
IMHO, the Tip's in the 996 are going to be in better shape (the car itself) because the owners of these cars are probably not going to track the car until the wife is out of town..

Hey Guys,

So I ran the car proof as I was very serious about the car. Turns out it has had several owners and ONLY $21,000 in damage with 3 different claims. The largest being $13,000 it was run into a curb.

Best $70 I'll spend today

Buyer beware.

First 996 Turbos I instructed in when they were brand new cars were Tips. Not pony trotting them, either. Changed my outlook on them, versus the 964/993 variants.

Car looks sweet. Too bad it has had bad past ownership.

It really shouldn't matter what we think. You will be driving the car. Do you like the Tip trans?

My tip is an X-50 with a tune and I really like it, the trans gets really aggressive if you beat on it and will keep the revs up at 5000-6000 rpm if you accelerate hard and then brake hard or turn, you can't do much better when running it in manual.

My wife drove it to work last week while her Mercedes was in the shop and said "everybody is staring at me", ya.
