Ha I realize that, I guess I am just surprised there is a big difference in the overall architecture or design of the cooling system as well.

Don't be surprised, there are no common parts between the two engines. Even the basic design is completely different.

You realize the heat shields on the Space shuttle are glued in place. Adhesives can be quite capable. Now, I don't know whether the type of glue or the process of applying the adhesive is optimized. I have no idea what experiments were run by Porsche...My guess is variation in type/lot of adhesive and in the application process are present and hence variation in the durability of the adhesive to perform as intended in or cars.

Even more amazing is that VW glued the coolant outlet fitting into the head of every 12 valve VR6 and I have never heard of this fitting failing.

you mean the space shuttle where the shields came off during launch and it burned up during re entry? If so that’s a good comparison to the adhesive that Porsche used.

JB weld is what most people use. Don’t know why one would want to use the Porsche specific glue, as that’s why it has to be addressed in the first place.

Perhaps you should research before posting. The ceramic tiles cracked, the failure did not occur at the adhesion joint.

JB Weld will work if you prep the surfaces well. It's amazing stuff.

do you need to use the extreme heat version or just the regular two part epoxy is fine?

Depends on anticipated speed as you re-enter the earth's atmosphere from your canyon carving run.

No big deal, they will just pop out leaving you and your car on the side of the road. With my lowered car, the ancillary damage was the front lip and radiator when the car was loaded on the rollback. Has very little to do with tracking. It’s just a poor design.
