This happened to me.

I ended up getting another 997. But if it happened today I would get a 991. My OCD runs rampant seeing interiors aging.

I don't know if I could go on the hunt again for a like-for-like replacement. It took so long to find my current ride. A Rennlist post about the Tesla convinced me my next car would be full electric. Possibly the Taycan. Since it's not ready yet I'd probably go for a 991.2 with a PDK for a little variety.

I would likely not replace it for a a year our two at this point. And then get a new 718 Cayman Optioned the way I like it.
Or see if used 991s drop because of the 992 release.

Because you brought up Viper... I recently bought a very low mileage, 100% stock Gen 2 GTS (Blue/White, took a long time to find since most that are listed are salvage/rebuilt/turbo'd or otherwise trashed) after waiting 2+ years for a GT3 allocation... I wanted something raw/pure and different and it certainly ticks those boxes. I kept my 997.2 C4S too and happy I did... the cars are night and day.
Completely different animals to the point that unless you want something realllly different, I can't imagine it ever being a substitute or replacement for a 911. A complement to it, yes, but it really is something else completely.
If you're looking for a change though, of the 3 cars you listed, the Viper is going to be the biggest :-)

I'd go back to the big V8... ZL1 Camaro or Z06 Vette. If I had to have a car with a roof, then a CTS/V or Charger Hellcat (if it has to have a roof, it might as well have 4 doors).

Good question! I’d probably have to choose between a 997.2 GTS, assuming I could get someone to part with it, or an air cooled 911. Nothing newer than a 997.2 interests me. My Porsche is my fun car, and I can’t imagine not having one in my life.

As a lot of you have mentioned various cars to replace, I agree to take on a new car and feel ….for whatever reason you prefer. There is not wrong answer. I personally don't have experience in driving many sports cars but I have read a lot about experiences. I own a Jag XK8 and a 911. You can't compare the two of my cars. They are two totally different cars and both have their pros and cons. I won't go into that but I enjoy driving both. But I must admit in terms of driving, the 911 is hands down my favorite. I haven't driven the new Jags so I can't comment but they do look tempting. However I would be surprised if a former 911 driver, jumped in a Jaguar F-Type and went for the F-Type...but who knows. Its all subjective.
