Curious, Rock Auto has stupid low prices..... any experience with these guys? For example....

997.2 Throttle Body

Pelican Bosch (sure looks same): $192.75

5150 MotorSport: $156.61 (no brand named)

Now, you may wonder, why I am looking at Throttle Bodies?..... I happen to like looking at hard curvy bodies. Honestly, one of the many voices in my head talking crap again... pay no mind.

I've purchased lots of Parts for Toyota's. Had great experiences. Outside of some upper ball joints, where I ordered a set that was to be greasable with zerk fittings. Only one came that way. Couldn't get any communication back about a return.

I've used rock-auto for my other cars honda and hyndai with no issue. I've never had to return anything though.

5150 sells good stuff, as does Pelican. I'll happily buy from both if the prices are good.

RockAuto sells good stuff too, but they also sell junk. Stick to brand name parts (like Bosch, Mahle, NGK, Pagid, TRW, etc) at RockAuto for anything that matters, eg, engine sensors, belts, brake pads, etc... Don't buy the Beck/Arnley, Cardone, or other no-name stuff as they are of questionable origin. I've bought lots of stuff from RA and have been happy. Occasionally they do mis-spec parts, eg, they sent me a m97 air filter for my Mezger engine turbo. They also sent the wrong front brake pad springs for the 997 turbo - - I think they sent ones that fit a different Porsche model. They will take stuff back it its not right (including if it doesn't match the picture on the webpage).

Other good parts sites with lifetime warranty are FCPEuro and EEuroParts. Both are good.

Fyi - I've used Rockauto for last 8 years, always quick shipping and never had an issue. I've not had to return anything, so I cannot really speak to their RMA process.

However, if you have to know the brand/part you want. Also, double check part-numbers and fitment. Rock has OEM stuff as well as some cheaper stuff. I always include rockauto on my parts vendor 'short list' when researching parts.

I have used Rockauto.com for a long time. Like others have said, stick to reputable brands and you will be fine. I have had returns with them, but they were small parts and rather than having me ship them back they just refunded my money.

FCPEuro seems to be the move right now as their pads and rotors can be returned for free lifetime replacement. I don’t know what other parts are included in the policy but they will probably receive my next order. Having said that I ordered some Pagid front brake pads for my 2010 off RockAuto (before I knew about FCPEuro) and was astounded how cheap they were. I have NO IDEA how they are “keeping the lights on..” I was a big believer in Pelican but doubt they will see anymore of my money. It’s just simple economics. I will say even without a replacement policy in place anybody will be hard pressed to look beyond RockAuto. Stupid cheap.

Ive ordered plugs, air/oil filters and motor mounts from Rockauto and found them to be cheaper than any online vendor. Fast shipping but returns can cost you due to the return shipping fee.

Just recently used Rockauto for some parts for my GMC pick up, parts came as described, good price compared to others and decent shipping time.

I’ve used RA for years, and always check there when sourcing. Have also bought heavily from FCP and ECS, some from Pelican and a few others. FCP really helped me get schooled on the definitions of Genuine and OEM, crucial if you want quality parts at lower cost. That’s what I want as I do most of the work on my cars.

I just tried RockAuto for the first time, and I have to say I'm impressed ! Basic order of engine air filters and cabin air filter . Prices were good, and the order arrived at my doorstep in 2 days ! No special shipping method either. I think they shipped the order out the same day it was received.

I just got the Throttle body today from Rock Auto. It's boxed in the generic Bosch packaging, by the Bosch part number.

But it is 100% identical to the Porsche part, even the wiring clip is present.

And the Porsche part number is laser etched right on it, just exactly like the one I took off. It is as far as I can tell, the factory part.

The net cost was about $130 with shipping. Came by USPS priority in 2 business days.

I use Pelican or Rock auto only for generic parts (spark plugs, oil filters, air filters, shocks). For specific stuff (radiators, water pump, alternator) I buy direct from a dealer who has discount mail order stuff. Pelican has good customer service, better than Rock.

Hey, nobody mentioned that with Rock Auto you also get a cool refrigerator magnet with a cool and sometimes strange project car😊. My tool box is covered with these magnets.

Does the FCPEuro replacement pad policy cover track pads? That would be a deal!
