How effective are the ventilated seats?
Currently in the market for a 997.2. One option high on my list is seat ventilation. With that said, I haven’t sat in a seat with this option.
How effective are the ventilated seats for cooling?
Is it worth the effort to wait for the right car with this option?

FWIW I had ventilated seats on my ‘16 Ram 2500 and have them on my ‘17 991.2.
I live in FL. On a hot day they do help in the transition of the ambient temp of the car from ITS JUAN MEELION DEGREES INSIDE to more or less normal by the time I get home after work.
They would not be a deal breaker for me on a car purchase. My wife’s Lexus did not have them, and her Cayenne does not either. It’s no big deal.
They do work well however.

I love em. Wifey's Macan is the GTS and doesn't have them and i wish they were there.
My 997.2 C2s Artic silver/ Sea blue (dark blue) interior/6 speed &29,000miles +/- may be coming on the market, as I may be upgrading.

Works great with a/c. You’ll end up turning the cooling fan down at some point cause you can feel the cold air being pulled thru. Makes your back cold. With top down and a/c off they still help. Not like with a/c but i use mine 100% when its warm and top down.
Buddy experienced it and was immediately disappointed in his cayman s that didn’t have them. Would not put it at same requirements level as sport Chrono and PASM but it’s definitely preferable option.

I think the ventilated seats are only fair at best. With the AC on, sure I can feel them but really no big deal since the ac cools the car down anyway. However with my convertible top down and the outside air above 80 degrees, I usually can't feel the ventilation at all. Not surprising since they are just pulling the hot air across my back which does nothing to cool it.
So if you can get them, then great - but I would not consider lack of them a deal-braker by any means.

If you wear shorts while driving, then the ventilation is a must.

My experience and thoughts.
I think the perforations lean towards weakness in the leather and will split or crack earlier than non-perforated under similar conditions.
The holes clog up with debris that is most likely a concoction of dirt, human sweat and fat, and creams and conditioners. My C4S had this to some degree and I was in the process of trying to figure out how to clean them or have them cleaned - a powerful micro vacuum and/or a toothpick and it would be one at a time. Once you figure out those holes are clogged with someone else's sweat fat you're not likely to drive your Porsche naked to the nudist camp any longer.
Of course if they are really clogged, then the ventilation isn't going to be that great anyway.
Mine weren't bad and my wife always complained that she felt like she was peeing when the ventilation was on. So she kept them off.
In spite of all the above, I like them, a lot - but they're just blowing air in the cabin so as an example with the top down on a hot day, they are only blowing the ambient air.
Some cars - a Lincoln I rented blew both hot and cold air and could be used as a supplementary family planning tool,
but probably not as effective as a hot bath or using a colleagues mug of coffee while at work.
Last but not least - during the global crisis 2008-09 retailers were dumping high end clothing for pennies on the dollar. I have a habit of going to Needless Markups Last Call at that time, they often marked down items 90% and occasionally those ended up on the half price rack so 95% off. Not even knowing that such things existed a pair of Brioni wool pants originally priced at $1700 was now only $85. My size, a neutral color, so I bought them.
These damn things let air flow so freely that a light breeze often has me checking if I left my zipper down. It's unnerving.
The point being, if you wear leather or heavy weight selvedge denim like Iron Heart (some Canadians are making 34oz now) then you'll never notice the difference.
Buy the car you want and if the seats are ventilated then it's a plus (especially if they're not clogged with someone else's fat and sweat.. But I wouldn't make it a priority.
And depending on your germaphobia level it might be a huge detriment.

They are OK, but not amazing in my 997.2 cab.
