Default Redline 0/5w-40w oils

Don't mean to start an oil debate but Im curious if anyone has tried or using the Redline 0w/5w -40w oils in their 997? I have a opportunity to source the typical gallon jug for the same price as Motul 8100 Excess however the Redline seems like the only Group 4 oil out there which is designed for yearly drain intervals and has a robust additive package. Thanks.

Can't speak for the 997 but I found Red Line was the only oil I could use in my various Lotus cars that maintained oil pressure at an idle.

I've been running their 5W-40 in my Porsches (996.2 4S and now a 997.2 TT S) for 11 years and a combined 178K mi.

Redline makes a great product and I use their oil in my BMW M3 track car but I wouldn't change from Motul to Redline. I use Motul in my 911 and am very happy with it's performance. I would probably use Motul in the track car but PO was already using Redline so no need to change something that isn't broken.

What specific benefits have you noticed in using Motul vs Mobil1?

thanks.

I have never had an oil analysis done so I can only be so specific. I went to Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40 almost 6 years ago in my 2005 997.1 2s. PO always had the car serviced at Porsche with Mobil 1 oil changes. I do my own oil changes. What I have noticed is a quieter engine that maintains a little better oil pressure and a little lower oil temp than what I noticed when the car had Mobil 1. In addition, I did a few track days with the car and wanted an oil that I felt would stand up to the rigors of the track and the Motul has certainly done that. This car has the old smaller IMS bearing and it has never been changed so I am religious about oil changes and checking the filter...filter is always clean as a whistle.

Thanks. In looking at the Motul website, they convey that the oil improves responsiveness and power. Interesting. Would be curious to know if you've experienced anything like this. I'll have to read further to see what properties it has that can possibly contribute to that. Thanks again.

Black Stone reports every 12 months with Mobile 1. Always gets top marks.

I am still waiting for the top secrete brew, currently being formulated by a specialty Indy shop, that is to remain unnamed for now. They are working on a patent, once issued they will announce its availability. I am a VIP member so I have some insight. It comes from a remote area in the middle east. A high level inside source tells me it will be pulled from the oldest and deepest part of the known world. This oil is then mixed with the finest ingredients from other parts of the world. This too is top secret but I heard Russia has a hand in the development. Could be North Korea but....

No reason to change from Mobil until this very expensive new oil, which by the way is guaranteed to solve the bore scoring problem becomes available.

My interest in the redline is that it has much higher ZDDP and moly than any another oil, including the DT40, and has higher HTHS than Motul 8100, M1 and DT40 not to mention its a group IV so it may leave a better oil film which may remain on the bores and piston rings a bit longer. Spec wise, the redline and motul 300v seem like the best performers. Maybe someone else can chime in.
