Default Recommendations for Porsche Mechanic or shop in the SF Bay Area/Peninsula

I'm looking for recommendations on a good Porsche mechanic and shop. I'm open to dealerships and independent Porsche mechanics/shops. Integrity of the shop/mechanic, quality work are important factors. I will go further down to the south Bay, but prefer to stay on the Peninsula if I can.

Thank you in advance!

I am a big fan of Gunter at Fletcher Jones Porsche of Fremont. He's a stand up guy and I used to go to him for years before finding my current Indy. I have an Dealership 5 minutes from my house, one 20 minutes from my house but I used to drive the 90 minutes to see Gunter for years.

2009 911 Carrera S. - VVT system monitor issues trying to get it smog certified and service light. I'll have to figure out more on the Service light using my OBD II, hopefully. The service light just came on about a week ago. I don't drive my car a lot. Except recently from trying to clear the OBD II sensors by performing driving cycles. I've probably put on about 300 miles in the last two weeks trying to clear the sensors. Last one is the VVT which shows "INC".

Thank you to all who have provided recommendations to local service techs or dealers! I really appreciate it.

I had a similar issue years ago and Gunter’s team at Porsche of Fremont helped took care of it and I passed smog.

Tony Heyer at Heyer Performance in Mt View is a great mechanic. Super knowledgeable (they only do Porsche afaik, except his Spec Miata is usually in one of the bays), very reasonable prices, and will advise on what needs to be done vs. what doesn’t. For tire work, drop ship to Nielsen Automotive in San Carlos, hands down. It’s like stepping back in time (they even run a full service gas station), but have all the latest mounting/balancing equipment. Chris takes extraordinary care lifting the car and won’t damage your wheels.

Are you located on the Peninsula? Is so, who do you currently go to for service? I live on the Peninsula and am looking for someone in the mid-Peninsula if possible. Fremont is not that far; however, I'd like to stay on this side of the bay if possible. I am also looking for someone who could service my car in the future.

Thank you,

Thank you,

I'm in the East Bay. I can tell you that most of my friends end up driving across the bay, from Palo Alto, San Jose, Cuppertino, ect. to use Gunter. My indy is great, Eric @ Pacific Power Motorsports, but he's in Walnut Creek

I’d like to piggyback on this thread and ask for shops as far south as Gilroy. I have a cousin with a 997.2 C4S with PASM control module issues. TIA

Multiple people on this forum from other threads have recommended BR Racing (http://www.brrperformance.com/) in Los Gatos. It's not Gilroy, but close. They sound like a reputable independent dealer. I would go there; however, I'm looking for something closer to the mid-peninsula. I'm actually taking my 911 to Porsche Fremont. They come highly recommended from multiple people on Rennlist also.

Good luck!

Thank you for the recommendation. I called and spoke with Tony. After letting him know about my issue, he did not want to take my car. He said it would take too much time to trouble shoot the VVT/EGR issue. Couldn't blame him if he's going to be chasing hard to resolve issues. So Heyer Performance is off my list now. I did appreciate his honesty. He seems like a reputable person.
