Default $300 for a 997.1 Purge Valve?!

Just ordered a purge valve for my 997.1 - $300 on eBay...I get that it comes with the pre-bent vent tubes and that adds cost, but this is a $20 part in most cars...grubby bastards! OK, rant over...enjoy your day!

Porsche is not a "most car" kind of thing. And yup that's good beer money right there.

At least in a 997 it's easy to access right there in the top left corner. Look up how to replace the one in a BMW x5 3.0 which I had to do a few months ago. I'll take the $300 part and simple replacement over the $40 part and ridiculous replacement any day.

Are there any marking on the OEM valve, as this appears to be a standard Bosch unit that was used in early 2000s on A4/A6/TT and others.

Audi and VW used similar units, there are others which have slightly different plugs but can be made to work but simply getting a $5 plug and repin.

And so the rest of us still learning will know. This Purge valve does what? Is it for Turbo/NA? Symptoms of a bad one. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game.
Thanks.
Never mind. I just read the ECS Tuning link. Good to know info though.

Totally agree as I need one for my Cayenne and the crazy mark up of this $20.00 part just because of the connector is off the chart. This part is exactly as the Bosch / VW part as mentioned above (depending on you specific model).

As long as you are ok with cutting off your OEM connector and replacing it with a generic connection this job should cost you no more than $80 at the most . My local Porsche dealer wants $260.00 + Tax for this ..... WTF ?? Talk about classic Porsche tax !!

Very good point. I pulled it off and the marking is: 0280142380 - which is available for $34 herehttps://www.autohausaz.com/pn/BS-99611012953

Anyone ever remove these vacuum hoses (when there is not a disconnect)? I'm thinking about trying a heat gun to pull it out...worst case I break it and then have to buy the expensive valve with the hose pre-fitted...any advice is welcome!!

Use a heat gun to take it off, you can use another pipe/hose with clamps if you crack it. There is not much of a pressure that you have to worry about.
