It sounds great, and it pulls really hard. Congrats bgoetz! Money well spent IMO. Makes me almost miss my N/A 911, almost. What part of the country are you in ? We got snow the other day and once the salt trucks are out I park it until spring.

I am in Ohio, typically mine would be put away by now as well, but we wanted to get through break in and get a couple of data logs for tuning purposes. There is brine that has been put down but not salt yet, I will just wash it really good after this weekend

Finished the 1000mi break-in oil change this morning, unlocked the break in tune and took it for a short run this morning and all I can say is …it is a freaking rocket.

I've been reading this thread with great interest. The power profile of the enhanced motor sounds amazing. I'm slightly technical but do not have the tools, expertise or room to pull a motor and send it out.

So, if I want to avail myself of one of these gems, what would it take? BAT donor car (997.1 6MT) + a local shop to pay a ton money to? What kind of budget are we looking at all-in? Let's say I'm not super picky about the car generally and would be willing to handle some interior work and respray longer term. More than a good condition GTS 6MT? Lots more? Bout the same?

Do folks find cars with blown motors already? Salvage cars? Help me understand what this might take...

i got a really good deal on a cobalt blue 997.1 with a motor that blew up on the track, pulled the motor myself and cleaned the chassis inside out while motor was at FSI. the cost differential (this was precovid) was minimal between a stage I and stage II track build so i went full ham. also added every optional upgrade offered throughout the process. the FSI team is world class in terms of end user experience and support. i had a minor hiccup when i put my motor in...i used the wrong 996 pivot pin in the trans instead of a 997 one which caused some crazy flywheel rattle, it sounded louder than a diesel...Jake spent an hour with me on the phone as moral support and troubleshooting...

all in i've probably spent 7x more than i spent on the roller...but that includes the motor, 991 GT2 LWB seats, various factory CF bits (OEM CF dash vents were a pretty penny, i actually got the last set in the world from suncoast), numeric shifter and cables, x97 shift and ebrake set, exclusive option wrapping my rear seats in black napa leather with cobalt blue deviated stitching, tubi exhaust, fabspeed xpipe, fabspeed HFCs, fabspeed equal length headers, OEM front aerokit, OEM rear euro 997.2 GT3 euro rear bumper without bumperettes, RPM tecknik ducktail, and an ultra beautiful carbon fibre x51 style airbox that I keep begging Jake to take my money for (still waiting for a few more 3d printed pieces before he can take my dollhairs)

some would say its crazy to spend that much on a borked997 when you could get a newer 991 C2S, but for me i'm a manual snob and prefer a completely analog experience, plus after doing all that work on it myself i know the car inside out mechanically...
