Those who went 6-spd to PDK

According to the definition from Google: the action of sailing about in an area without a precise destination, especially for pleasure.
My car is used on backroads drives. I don't drive at 10/10 on the street. I am not cruising around town at 10mph waiting for people to look at me. My car is a therapy device.

So funny how MT vs. PDK always winds up in a battle.

My Panamera Turbo is a PDK with chronos and ceramic brakes, it's a high spec car, and the engagement with the PDK is amazing, because it's suited to the car and what's it's used for (comfort cruising, high - top speed pulls) but also searching for a 997.2 6 speed right now, not because 'I' don't love the PDK but more based on use and interaction for that specific car - tight twists, mountain passes, more agility based, so the manual os best suited. It's not always possible to buy a car for each experience, but when you can it really helps to get each car in its correct environment, and thus the most enjoyment out of it.

I probably responded a bit too defensively. I’ve just seen too many people take the definition of spirited driving to the extreme (100mph+ on backroads, 150mph+ on highways). The last time I drove through our outdoor local shopping mall was probably two years ago. Cruising to me means going on a backroad drive, exploring 2-3-4 gears, getting my car up to 6k RPM’s and listening to a fantastic flat 6 motor. I purposely avoid driving anywhere near people. Being an introvert often means a Saturday morning 7am drive or taking a day off of work when no one is on the road and enjoying. Stay safe and enjoy the drive!

Unfortunately it does, but it shouldn’t. Manual is good for some. Tiptronic is good for others. Ferrari’s F1 is good for others. PDK is good for others.
I’ve had a bit of driver and passenger seat time in my friends F1 430. People complain about that transmission all too often. For the type of driving he does which is large group Ferrari drives on backroads, driving hard, that transmission is perfect and it feels like an F1 car. Manual for me works as I’m often driving by myself, just enjoying connecting with a piece of automotive engineering.

Hopefully "know one" takes it seriously Groov. For the OP and legitimate shoppers with questions the information is out there and easy to find. It's just a preference. Drive the potential car and buy if you like it. If you hate it sell it and find the other flavor. These threads are like oil, bore scoring, etc.
Forgive my spelling I had one hand on my vag..lol

Why does every manual versus automatic discussion invariably have comments questioning the masculinity and skill of the automatic owners? Are manual owners so insecure their only defense is personal insults?

Manual Transmission owners know they are superior and just try and offer their guidance.

Semantics some might say but I don't consider the PDK an "automatic" since it isn't. No torque converter for starters. It's a manual minus the third pedal with sensational and unsurpassed technology and performance. So this discussion will go on until those with an opinion one way or the other can no longer read or type for whatever reason. So a pretty safe bet that many of us won't live long enough to see the last post on this subject.

PDK should just be called a clutch-less manual with an automatic option. Porsche is missing out on serious $ by not offering a faux 3rd pedal option for diehards who need that left leg engagement. Wonder if this same type argument happened back when cars needed to be cranked by hand to start vs modern electric starters. Sure someone criticized some youngster for not being man enough to turn the car over with muscle power. Times change, technology improves, experiences adjust, memories fade.

Just depends on how much dilution (or enhancement) of the driving experience you're willing to accept (dilution for those favouring manuals, hydraulic power steering, etc. or enhancement for those favouring electric cars, PDK, etc.) and where you sit on the spectrum.
These threads are almost as entertaining as the oil threads where people end up going down the path of arguing one over the other to justify their personal beliefs/preferences/decisions.
