Default Color correcting Carrara White - my results

Don't let anyone tell you color correcting a white car isn't worth it. I spent a few hours this morning and achieved about 80% correction — as far as I was willing to push my clear coat. My first time, so I was a little scared. I am very happy with the results, even though I am pretty sure I could have done better. Previous owner used a cover and probably towel dried. It had spiderwebs and swirls galore. I put up with it for a year since I could only see it in the sun and photos sometimes. Now my Carrara White 997.2 really pops, as much as white can. 😛

(Did the best I could w/ these pics. Light moved so I couldn't get the exact same angles .. and the camera's white balance gets all funky with direct sunlight, etc.)

I used:
---Avid Power Buffer Polisher on 4.5 speed for first cut.. 2 for polish
---Foam pads, high cut (clear coat was hard!)
---Jescar Correcting Compound
---3D Speed Car Polish & Wax
---Turtle Wax ICE Shine N Shield

Great job, Doug. There is a lot of satisfaction in paint correcting your own car. I’m a big fan of Jescar compounds and polishes myself.

Looks great! Love the Carrera White. I find that the clear coat on these cars swirl so easily.

Looks great!
I’m about to try something similar on my white 997. I hope it looks half as good as yours.

I'm going to do this soon when I get tired of my scratched up ceramic coated cw 997.2 ... it's all scratched with years of hand washing... spider webs buy it's so easy to dry since the ceramic is still there... water just fall off... when the scratches get the better of me I'll polish and try to do this

I did this when I first bought mine because I had the same fine scratches. Decontamination, clay, cut, polish, seal. Very rewarding, I have the same color but didn't notice the color difference your pictures appear to show.

Great job!!

I was kind of scared of doing my own paint correction too. I bought a complete paint correction tools, and whole bunch of polishes and waxes for my black C4S, but I was too scared to practice it on my car at first, so I used my wife's black BMW X1 to experiment. Then she upgraded her ride to a Macan S, and I still used it to get better, unbeknownst to her. Now I am comfortable in using the power buffer on my own car. Practice do improve your detailing skill.

Thanks everyone. I would have been nervous to do it on a darker color first. I cannot stress this enough for everyone who wants to try.... watch many YouTube videos about the subject all the way through. Plenty of info out there that will help you prevent disaster. AND DON'T chase perfection and burn all the way through your clear coat.

Yeah, disregard the color change in my pics.. it's just because of a change in lighting. My townhome is yellow, and light was bouncing off the house onto the car. Car was the same white before and after, just with a lot less scratches.

Nice work, yes paint correction is always worth it when done properly. White is especially hard to capture the results so well done.
