The car I ended up purchasing was listed Monday morning on Autotrader and I called that morning to buy (pending PPI).. the dealership said that people were calling all week about the car. Good luck! I don't think you'll regret it.
What did you wind up buying? Year/Miles/Bore Scope Insp?

09 4S coupe (72k miles). Got a PPI mainly for the DME report (which was good) but they found that the clutch needed to be replaced, which the dealership did. MT/PSE/Sport Chrono (meh on a manual)/PCCB, has the base radio which kind of sucks, but added car play. Been daily driving it for about two years. No regrets

edit - I didn't get a BI done, because it was a .2

I bought my 997.2 CPO for what I thought at the time was top-dollar. Same with my GT3RS. My reasoning is that it was worth it to be driving the car asap rather than miss out to save a few $$$. Both of them are now worth more than I paid. But even if they weren’t, the experience is worth it.

I had the same questions last month when I bought a 997.2 but I ended up buying it b/c ruby red's don't come around that often. Just depends if you find the right spec, go for it.

When you find the one the speaks to you, just go for it and hang onto it. Odds are you wouldn't be paying too much, just maybe too early. Hard to imagine a world where good 997s don't ultimately climb in value from here. When i bought my .2 6spd coupe I swore I wasn't going to get another arctic silver but that's just what was available after many months of searching. If I hadn't, I would have either compromised on a condition/feature, paid a dumb BaT premium, or would still be searching. No regrets.

While I have another thread going on, which one to buy? 3.6L or 3.8L? From what I have read so far both have advantages/disadvantages.

Depends on your preferences - neither a base or S are 'fast'. Some base models (not many) were optioned up to 'almost S' spec (PASM, sports seats, headlights etc). Assuming good/excellent condition, for me it's color first (by a long way), then full leather, then sports seats. Brakes, suspension, wheels are all changeable. Oh, and it has to be manual for me.

Hopefully you love silver, grey, black or white, there are only 7 Carrera gen 1 manual coupes on Autotrader NOT in those colors.

Life is short.

Find the car with the specs you want and start enjoying it

My personal opinion....S. Has a better ride height, has PASM to give you the foundation for adding the TPC DSC suspension controller, has more low end torque for drivability, are usually equipped with more options.

Next, full leather...textured plastic dash tops and door tops don't belong in what was about a $100k car when new and the leather makes the interior feel much nicer.

But opinions are like...

That's really all that needs to be said. I would actually "neutralize" the "specs you want" to "close to the specs you want". There's no shortage here of threads started by people who have searched for years for the exact specs, model and color they're looking for while also waiting for prices to come down.

What a waste of years of enjoyment driving your dream car because the exact car with all the exact options (on sale no less) doesn't come around. I would hate myself if I ended up with some kind of medical condition or being in an accident rendering me unable to drive and never got to drive a 997. Instead, having spent years looking for the exact right one while driving something boring while having the Porsche in the back of my mind. But to each their own.

Full leather has stitching on front of dash where top hide meets lower hide and there is stitching on leather surrounding the PCM, doors/etc.
If you compare photo of CL car listing interior to photo below of my close-up of my Full Leather interior, you'll see what I'm talking about.

That ad looks fishy with the typos, and the C2S was narrow body, not wide body .... doesn't inspire confidence.
